5.0 out of 5 stars Compilation book.
I wish I'd known in advance that this is a compilation of the last two compilation books--The Get Fuzzy Experience and Blueprint for Disaster, both of which I already own! That being said, if you haven't read these already, they are hilarious, as all of the Get Fuzzy books are.

1.0 out of 5 stars Get Fuzzy? I Don't Think So!
Rob Wilco is a cigarette nosed schlimiel with a combative cat named Bucky and a sweet, not too sharp Sharpei-Lab named Satchel. Rob is a loser; he hangs out with his talking pets and in general played for a fool. It's interesting that this strip appeals to so many...to me, it's just dumb and Rob is a fool.

5.0 out of 5 stars Get Fuzzy: Simply The Best Strip Currently Running, May 20, 2004
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Bucky Katt's Big Book of Fun: A Get Fuzzy Treasury (Paperback)
I have loved 'Get Fuzzy' from the first time I saw it. This is a compilation of some of Darby Conley's best strips; they are a joy to read and bring laughter into a frazzled day. The interaction of Rob, Satchel, and Bucky is a national treasure.

I particularly appreciate the tone of the strip in addressing social ills without being preachy, while still honoring the good things in America. Particularly noteworthy is the honor Mr. Conley bestows on the NYPD, EMS, and fire fighters throughout his strips, particularly post-9/11. I also appreciate his sensitivity in honoring the passing of truly significant people such as Douglas Adams (the '42' strip is wonderful), and Fred Rogers.

This is one of the most entertaining books on my bookshelf, and I treasure it. I could not recommend a book of comic strips more highly. Buy it: it'll make your day!

5.0 out of 5 stars Easily the funniest strip currently in production, May 30, 2005
This review is from: Bucky Katt's Big Book of Fun: A Get Fuzzy Treasury (Paperback)
"Get Fuzzy" is easily the best and funniest strip in production at this time. Darby Conley, the artist, seems to be a cross between author Christopher Moore and cartoonist Berkeley Breathed.

For years I mourned the loss of "Bloom County." Sure, there were other funny cartoons. "The Far Side" was great. So was "Calvin and Hobbes." "Dilbert" does bring out a chuckle now and then. And "Opus" is back, although not nearly as funny as before. There was just something about "Bloom County," with its combination of humans, talking animals and social satire that made it laugh-out-loud humorous almost on a daily basis.

"Get Fuzzy" has now filled much of the void with the stupidity of Satchell's good hearted nature and Bucky's evil quest to be the boss.

"Bucky Katt's Big Book of Fun" is probably the best book thus far. I have to ditto another reviewer, however, and warn buyers about Amazon's combining this title with "Blueprint for Disaster." While hardcore readers might want both, buyers should be aware of the fact that much (if not perhaps all, not sure) of the content of "Blueprint" exists within "Big Book of Fun."

My only hope is that Darby Conley will continue to grow and develop "Get Fuzzy." As much as I hate to say it, when you look at the book (instead of reading a daily strip) you can see where he sometimes relies on a redundant technique - such as when Rob or Bucky uses a word that Satchell misinterprets in the last frame and this becomes the punchline. It's funny, but it's not the heart of the "Get Fuzzy."

No matter, "Get Fuzzy" is still hiliarious. If you haven't seen it before you are missing a cartoon strip treasure.

This book is a combination of Blue Print for Disaster and the THe Fuzzy Experience. More than 500 comic strips. Is still an interesting read.

5.0 out of 5 stars The best comic in years, redux, April 8, 2005
This review is from: Bucky Katt's Big Book of Fun: A Get Fuzzy Treasury (Paperback)
This treasury is a good place to pick up the second era of Get Fuzzy strips, collected in The Get Fuzzy Experience and Blueprint for Disaster, again with the Sunday comics in full color, which makes it the better choice than buying both of those books independently. If you're new to Get Fuzzy, you probably ought to start with Groovitude, the first treasury collection, but this is more of the same hilarity, and it's bound to please all the old fans and maybe attract a few new ones. Get Fuzzy rules.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great!...but..., May 15, 2004

Great, Funny, Awesome, The Best, but DON'T buy their 'combination' set with Blueprint For Disaster, Amazon.com really screwing people over with that one. Very disapointed in Amazon.com for that, but gave the book itself a 5 star, cause you have to love Get Fuzzy!

5.0 out of 5 stars Brilliant comic; love the treasury!, May 11, 2005

This review is from: Bucky Katt's Big Book of Fun: A Get Fuzzy Treasury (Paperback)
I owned the original comic collections, but we still wanted the treasury for the color comics. Get Fuzzy is the only thing that can come close to filling the void left by Calvin and Hobbes. I live in a household of just two people, but both of us have elements of Bucky Katt and Satchel in us, and the relationship Rob Wilco has with is cat and dog roommates applies not only to people with pets, but to any family unit.

I keep this by the bedside to read whenever I have a free moment between other novels. It makes a great gift...I've given it to people who have never heard of Get Fuzzy who were instantly converted. Try it out on any Calvin and Hobbes fan.

5.0 out of 5 stars Brilliance In Our Midst, December 15, 2004
This review is from: Bucky Katt's Big Book of Fun: A Get Fuzzy Treasury (Paperback)
Darby Conley is the one voice of brilliance on the comics page. And something this good only comes along once a decade--if we're lucky. The intelligence, the humor, the twisted cat! Bucky Hour, when Bucky conducts strange rituals in the middle of the night while his owner is sleeping, is one of the most lovely inventions out there.

Part of what makes Get Fuzzy a must have for any book case or bathroom side table is the author's willingness to go into strange places. Witness, for instance, his focus not long ago on beavers as being harbingers of evil, especially the Oregon State University mascot Benny Beaver.

It's clear that Conley is clued into popular culture, and has sensitive antennae, but at the same time, is pulling material out of his own personal private world to share with us. This is the perfect gift for someone who's more cynical and intelligent than the average comics page reader and might not know about Get Fuzzy--or might not even read a newspaper.

5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent comic, May 8, 2004

This review is from: Bucky Katt's Big Book of Fun: A Get Fuzzy Treasury (Paperback)
Darby conely (may have spelled this wrong) is one of the most promising comic arisits since bill waterson of calvin and hobbes. his work is touching, yet hilarious, incredibly well drawn, and fun to read. This book, as the second treasury, is the best collection of his work so far. It includes colour sunday strips, and over 200 pages of side-splitting daily comics. it is surely a book to have on your shelf. I also recomend "Groovitude," the previous get fuzzy treasuery.

5.0 out of 5 stars A Get Fuzzy Reading Guide - collections vs. treasuries, August 11, 2007
This review is from: Bucky Katt's Big Book of Fun: A Get Fuzzy Treasury (Paperback)
I won't go into how fantastic this comic strip is, but it is easily my favorite comic strip of all time. :)

For the uninitiated, there are eight collections so far and three treasuries. The fourth treasury is not yet released.

Please keep in mind that each treasury is two collections put together, so as far as I know the treasuries are the same as two of the collections, except I believe the treasuries have the Sunday comics in color while the collections have them in black and white.

In chronological order, the collections are:

1. The Dog is Not a Toy: House Rule #4
2. Fuzzy Logic: Get Fuzzy 2
3. The Get Fuzzy Experience
4. Blueprint for Disaster
5. Say Cheesy: A Get Fuzzy Collection 5
6. Scrum Bums
7. I'm Ready for My Movie Contract: A Get Fuzzy Collection
8. Take Our Cat, Please: A Get Fuzzy Collection

The treasuries are:

1. Groovitude (encompassing collections 1 and 2).
2. Bucky Katt's Big Book of Fun (encompassing collections 3 and 4).
3. Loserpalooza (encompassing collections 5 and 6).
4. The Potpourrific Great Big Grab Bag of Get Fuzzy (encompassing collections 7 and 8).

These comics are beyond hilarious, and I would highly recommend them to pet lovers/haters of all ages. :)
