Product Description

Bucky [Nick Swarsdon] is a small town grocery bagger, going nowhere in life until he discovers that his conservative parents were once adult film stars! Armed with the belief that he has found his destiny, Bucky packs up and heads out to LA, hoping to follow in his parents footsteps. Also starring Christina Ricci, Don Johnson and Stephen Dorff.

It's an odd state of affairs when a movie carries a relatively strong creative pedigree and yet seems to have been brushed aside by the creators as if they knew full well how savagely it would be received by critics and audiences alike. Such is the case with Bucky Larson: Born to Be a Star, which comes from Adam Sandler's production company and has a script cowritten by Sandler, plus a cast of eminently accomplished actors who either didn't know they were slumming it in a stupid, raunchy comedy, or for some reason didn't care. That said, just because it's stupid and raunchy (which it really is), there are germs of redeeming tidbits in Bucky Larson, including the above-mentioned performers along with the shear depth of its stupidity and raunch. Nick Swardson, a longtime Sandler cohort and a very funny presence in his many other movie and TV appearances, plays the title character under a ridiculous bowl haircut and behind a pair of front teeth that seem ripped from the jaws of a giant mutated gopher. He's an Iowa farm boy with hayseeds permanently stuck in those choppers. He knows nothin' from nothin', but vows to make it as a modern-day porn star after a weirdo TV party gives him evidence that his parents were industry icons in the 1970s, thus making him born to a lineage despite his crazy look, crazy talk, and crazy brain. The other obstacle he faces is a piece of fleshy manhood that's, well, a little on the small side, to put it mildly. In a sequence of events so stupid and raunchy that they do have the necessary ingredients for some measure of possibly drunken hilarity, it turns out that his massive under-equipment and contingent hair trigger gain him exactly the kind of stardom he knew he was born to (his shortcomings make other men feel better about themselves). It seems kind of silly to lament that everyone involved didn't make more of an effort to put Bucky Larson in a higher class since everything about it is so utterly low class. But with a cast that includes Edward Herrmann (Bucky's dad), Stephen Dorff (a rival porn star), Christina Ricci (Bucky's forlorn girlfriend), Don Johnson (a washed-up porn director), and the talented Swardson himself, it feels like the sloppiness of the whole affair is just plain lazy. People will find some genuinely funny moments in Bucky Larson if they're able to even start in on it (a scene involving "stolen" food and Bucky's psychotic roommate Kevin Nealon is definitely a laugh riot), but it's likely that this movie will only find life in the home market of a select few who revel in the underdog nature of a particular brand of cinematic stupidity. --Ted Fry

I know a lot of people hate this movie but I absolutely love it. I'm a huge Nick Swardson AND Christina Ricci fan and I thought this was completely hilarious. It's ridiculous and obviously raunchy (duh, it's about porn) and if you go into it realizing that it's a Happy Madison movie, you might just enjoy it as much as I do!

Funny movie! Silly humor but Nick Swardson pulls it off. I'm not quite sure how many actors could pull it off as well as he does and keep it equally as tolerable.

The main reviews displayed for this movie paint it as a crappy movie. Even the description paints it to be crappy. But bubkis to all that. I rented this movie not expecting much. And YES it is quite raunchy and absolutely funny as hell. I have never laughed so hard at anything in my whole life. It is corny but utterly unforgettable and gut busting. This movie is ate up and hilarious. It had my wife and I spitting soda out our noses. If you watch this and don't find it to be one of the funniest movies ever you must be a real boring bunghole. And remember...nothing grows in my c@#k shade! LoL

Bucky Larson: Born to Be a Star is intended for people that like lots of sexual-related comedy. Now I definitely fall into this category much to many peoples dissatisfaction but... when used in a comedy, the sex jokes need to be backed up with a solid storyline and interesting characters. Unfortunately Bucky Larson doesn't contain either (despite how attractive Christina Ricci is of course!)

It's about the immature, unattractive, sex-happy character of Bucky Larson going to his friends house one evening as a way to discover himself shall we say, and upon watching a porno he recognizes the characters in the movie... because they are his *parents*. Now wouldn't THAT be the ultimate surprise? Not in a good way either!

After confronting his parents, Bucky realizes that he'd like to travel to Hollywood and make it big as a porn actor. This is when the storyline gets going. He meets several people including Christina Ricci at a diner and when Bucky realizes he has no place to go, Christina introduces Bucky to a roommate that's probably the funniest person in the entire movie because he's so incredibly direct and demanding that Bucky do whatever he says and that's that. A segment involving Bucky seeing this man on the toilet is hilarious.

Ironically enough, Christina Ricci plays a normal and rational woman and not a quiet weirdo like in other movies!

Later on Bucky eventually finds himself in a porn audition after meeting the right people that give him the chance. However everyone makes fun of his tiny man parts and laughs at his desire to be a legitimate porn actor based on his ugly and unsatisfying appearance.

When Bucky Larson 1st came out I read & heard so many bad reviews about it so I was expecting this really horrible flick. It's not all that great of a movie but it wasn't all that bad either. There were moments where I couldn't help but laugh but there were parts too dumb for words. There were also times where the movie was alright & times where it was just boring.Bucky Larson is good for a watch, It's just not something I'd go out & buy
