This is the first and (by the looks of this thing) the last poncho I will ever have to buy. It's huge. I'm about 5'11 and it ALMOST reaches my feet, but not quite. It's made very well. The material is tough stuff and will not tear easily. Has buttons going all the way down to close you in and there are buttons on the opennings where your arms come out. It is sleeveless but you are able to close the arm hole, preventing rain to come in. I defently would and WILL recommend this to friends. I will add a picture soon so other buyers can see it on me to compare size. :)

I wouldn't ordinarily write a review for a poncho, but this was a ridiculous value at the price I paid--approximately 1/4 the price for an equivalent type. Quality is very good, heavy duty PVC with welded seams. Yeah, the Swiss camouflage pattern is a little weird (I would have preferred a solid color,) but get stuck outside even once in a cold, teeth-chattering downpour and thoughts of fashion go out the window.

My husband and I thought these would be great as part of our hiking gear because the size would easily cover a backpack. We were not disappointed at all. They are very roomy and long. I'm 5'4" and this thing comes down to my ankles. Hubby is 5'11" and it comes down to midway between his knee and ankle. Some of the reviews say it's a heavy poncho and I don't get how they came to that conclusion. It's a very solid weight being that it's well made with quality material, but not at all what I'd call 'heavy' to carry.

Let me make this clear : this is *not* some cheap wal-mart item that will tear if you sit down the wrong way while wearing it. It easily covers a 5400ci backpacks while still keeping you warm and dry in a downpour.

Would also highly recommended one for a bug-out-bag!

This poncho shipped quickly, as usual for Amazon. It is a very large size and is certainly heavy duty. Not sure what others are complaining about; I have worn many a "regular" poncho and this one beats them all.

First off, it buttons in the front. Ever try to throw a poncho over your head and pack, then fight to get it pulled all the way down in back, while it's raining? This one you just swing over your back and pack "cape style" (you can even say "Voila" or "Shazam!" to add some flare to this manuever)and button up the front. Very nice.

As far as the sleeves go, I have never had a PONCHO with sleeves. I have had a few RAINCOATS with sleeves, but different animal entirely. (Nothing quite beats the feeling of heavy rain running down the regular poncho arm opening, continually cooling your hands off). At least with this Swiss model, you can tuck your hands in and stay warm.

Camo? Yep, a little different, but I have not had a deer or squirrel point and snicker yet. I wear this for hiking, camping, and hunting so this style of camo is no issue. Wearing it down 5th avenue in NY would be a problem, however down the ally you would blend right in. Wearing it to the opera would not be advised.

Need to spend lots of money for the highest tech gear made to order in the latest digiphotorealistic camo known to mankind? Look elsewhere. Want an awesome piece of kit that will last, keep you dry and toasty, without strangling you trying to get into or out of it for a fair price? Buy this.

Yes, it is heavier than your titanium spork, but not so much so as to make you want to head out without it.

Happy trails!!

I served in the USMC and am a Paramedic.I was looking for a GI poncho for my bushcraft kit. A GI style is easily $20 . For about 1/2 the cost I got a thick resilient PVC? poncho with solid seams and generous protection. As a poncho I like the cap design better and feel it offers superior protection. Im a big man and the poncho covers me in abundance. Thew camo pattern is oddly unique and I found it off putting at first but Ive grown to like it . I want to avoid the tacticool militia look while keeping utilitarian aspect inate to surplus, hello foriegn surplus. This poncho is a bargain and a great piece of kit. The only neg is making a shelter from it is not as simple as the Gi but even the GI leaves a lot to be desired. If you want a shelter get a tarp, you want a hardcore poncho...BUY THIS!

Heavy duty material. maybe even a little to heavy. I ordered two because most will tear eventually. I think I'll have these for some time to come! I do like the opening for the arms. The poncho is formed to the body more than the open sheet style I'm usually using. Overall a quality product. With very fast delivery.

What - where are all the other deals like this one???? High quality rain poncho for $6. It showed some use on the buttons but 100% functional. I have seen similar in retail outlets new for $40. Honest seller who could have been honest selling this for $20.

Thanks

I originally bought this for my Get Home Bag...my emergency preparedness bag that I keep in my big rig, filled with survival essentials designed to last me 3 days. This poncho has many potential uses, from shelter to water gathering, to flotation, to cordage making, which makes it really useful in survival situations, but I keep pulling it out of the bag and using it. It is my go-to cold rain gear now.

It is heavy duty and fits over my XXL frame and my 1750 cu. inch backpack. My poncho looked brand new and smelled like a new rubber raft when it arrived. After hanging it outside for a few days, the smell diminished quite a bit. The hood is large and it extends in front of your face to keep you out of the weather. It is reinforced at the front so that it almost acts like a hat brim. The snaps are easy to operate and secure, and the poncho extends below my knees.

I am a long-distance truck driver who has to be out in sleet and freezing rain sometimes, and this poncho keeps me warm and dry. I will probably buy another one and keep it in my bag for emergencies, as was my original intention. At this price, why not? BTW: I would have given it 5 stars....but it really is ugly!
