Documenting the city of Budapest through the eyes of two photographers who lived and worked a century apart from each other, this volume leads a fascinating walk through time. Recollecting the last third of the 19th century, this history is captured by Klösz György, who earnestly recorded the daily life of the Hungarian capital during this era. One hundred years later, Lugosi Lugo László followed in his footsteps, chronicling the same streets and sights in order to bring this unique reconstruction to fruition. This bilingual edition includes English and Hungarian.

Wonderful collection of historic photos of significant sites in Budapest taken circa 1900. On the opposing page is a photo of the same site taken in the year 2000 that approximates the vantage point today. Interesting look at the chages to this great city over the past century.

I'd just visited Budapest. I was delighted to find this book on Amazon. The pages are filled with "then" compared to relatively recent photos of the same location(s).
The accompanying narrative is spot-on. This is a MUST if you'd never been to Budapest -or- as a souvenir of your trip. It brings the history of The "Paris of The East" to life. Loved it. Having seen it, my family wants copies for Christmas!
