Bag-In Dispenser for Cereal

This product arrived and it seems great, but it's too small to hold large bags of cereal, which is disappointing, because that is what I bought it for.

If you buy cereal from Costco or in some other bulk-packaging, find a bigger storage device.

I had bought the Buddeez bag-in cereal dispenser sometime ago. I usually buy boxed cereal, so it wasn't much more of a convenience for me. However, I figured it would be easier for my kids to open/close the flip-top lid than to bother with a platic bag inside the cardboard box of the cereal. It certainly did add that part of the convenience, as expected.

However, it's pour-spout is rectangular, leading to a lot more spills than necessary. Also, it's flip-top came apart a couple of times, and then eventually it broke, all within a couple of months. I checked their web-site, and it appears I have to pay for a new lid and it's shipping. I'm certainly not happy about that, especially since the replacement lids would be equally flimsy and break within a couple of months.

I do not recommend this product because it doesn't quite fulfill its purpose without the lids.

This is the one to get for most cereal needs. Yes the klip it is a bit fancier, but it is not worth 15 dollars. I ordered 3 of these and one klip it to test both out for cereal use. The klip it is slightly better made, but cereal goes in the container which is ok. Some embers in my family like that for the super big boxes of cereal. But for most cereal the bag in the container works terrifically. No need to wash container. Get new box, put bag in , ready to go. Great value. Skip the klip it unless you need big volume capacity.

I ended up getting several of these - now I dump all cereal into one of these clear boxes. Kids are able to see the cereal and pick which one they want and having same size boxes de-clutters my pantry.

This was a great buy though the shipping was costly. It fits in the cabinet perfectly and fits a full bag of cereal, unlike another one I bought on this site. The lid is easy to put and remove, even my husband can do it!

I saw this product on amazon, was looking for a small easy to use container for my cereals. The Bag-in container is perfect: doesn't take up space and protects my cereal's from moths. Years ago I purchased containers that hold the cereal box, the problem they take up to much space and the moths still were able to get in to the ceral...The Bag in ceral containers are perfect!!!

These are very handy to easily pour cereal. One star off because I find when I insert a new bag, I do have to manually snip the top of the cereal bag a little shorter, so that the spout top will fit snugly and the cereal can pour smoothly. Otherwise, easy to clean, easy to use, and I ended up buying two to use.

If you actually need airtight, this is not the product for you!

I would have to say that it's incorrect to call this airtight, unfortunately. The sticker on the box makes no claim of being airtight, to the manufacturer's credit.

The seal of the lid is nice and snug, and the flip-open pour spout snaps shut nicely, but the hinge to the flip-open pour spout is not really airtight.

It's the HINGE of the pour spout that allows a little airflow through. Humidity and ants could get through the hinge of the pour spout, which I believe is going to affect the preservation of cereal freshness.

Not sure if pantry moths could work their way through the hinge or not? That would have to be tested.

As a positive, it's a nice, handy size for a medium or small box/bag of cereal. I think it would be easy for kids to handle...probably a LOT less spills from this than from would result from kids pouring bagged cereal from the bag. So...if you have kids and no ants, or kids and no humidity problem, this is a good choice for you!

I would use it for keeping flies off of pretzels at a picnic...but I wouldn't expect it to keep those same pretzels fresh for very long, because it couldn't keep the humidity out.

This has been a great product. I have been trying to find additional ones locally without success. Also, I had two bread storage units. My sister-in-law wanted one so bad that I gave one to her. She loves it.

Yesterday I was in Wal-Mart and looked at the Mainstays storage dispenser 16-cup capacity. It looked just like my Buddeez. When I checked the bottom of the container I was amazed to find Buddeez - Made in USA. GREAT!! I usually avoid the Mainstays products since they are normally made in China/PRC. Guess I will start checking the Mainstays products again.

FYI - If the seal isn't tight, try a fine emery board around the lip of the container to smooth the surface.

I bought this cereal dispenser because, living in an apartment with others, cleanliness is not always the rule (so bugs make their rounds often enough). Because of that, I love how well this dispenser works. There is a downfall of not putting cereal bags into the container (I just dump cereal straight into the container). Cereal crumbs get around the inside of the lid, but that's not a complaint, just an observation.

More than anything, I've enjoyed the fact that I can combine and mix cereals without making a mess or pulling out multiple boxes each day. If I had need of anymore cereal dispensers, I'd definitely get another one of this type.
