It's OK but we've had better ones before,

From all the Claude Challe & Ravin collection, this is the slowest volume. It takes the listener way too deep into the oriental sounds turning the music kind of ethereal. I was looking for more beats and lyrics, like in the Buddah Bar Vol. I or II. The Nirvana Lounge compilation is a good example of an intermediate point between these concepts. Won't make you dance, but you if that's not your thing, you won't be dissapointed.

Now THIS is Music,

I'd seen the other Buddha Bar compilations, but hesitated buying them because of the price. This time, I gave in and I'm glad I did. This is the first of the the compilations I've listened to, and I will definitely be back to check out the others, since this cd keeps finding it's way back into my disk man. I listen to it on my way to work, while I'm at the gym, and anytime I in the mood for music that engages me but that doesn't necessarily disrupt my thoughts. The first CD "Dream" is probably my favorite of the two, because of it's calm, meditative vibe, but the second, "Joy," is a great cd for working out, walking or jogging. If you're interseted in world music, and already like dance music, you'll definitely get into this cd.

I own every Claude Challe release- including the seemingly illusive Les Bains Douches, which is one of the finest. When Nirvana Lounge was released I was suspicicious because it was done by a guy called Ravin- where had Claude Challe got to? However, on multiple hearings Nirvana Lounge proved every bit as beguiling as the marvellous Buddha Bars 1 & 2. So it was without hesitation that I bought this latest Buddha Bar 3........ a little disappointing........ it just does not hang together so well as the others- seems not to have so much thought put into the continuity- I smell a bit of "cashing in" on the success of the other releases. Nevertheless there are some fine tracks e.g Talvin Singh, Frédérick Rousseau & Ravi Prasad. By the Way- I picked up Bains Douches 2 in Paris recently- again a slight disappointment, considering the great first release. Where are you Claude? Come back and give us a storming new release with your name on it.

Ok but not that good,
This review is from: Buddha Bar III (Audio CD)
The third edition of Buddha Bar is a dissapointment vs. the previous ones. The music is slow and montonous with few melody swings. The joy cd is mainly indian focused and really gets boring after the third track. The dream cd is enjoyable and has a few good tracks.Don't buy this cd and wait for claude challe's new releases mainly : Sun by claude challe , and Global beats by claude challe, to be released within 2-3 months.

A must to have in your CD collection!!,

There are two CDs, one named "Dream", the other "Joy". Of all the Buddha Bar CDs produced until then, it is THE BEST!!Ravin is the master whose choices in music you listen to when you dine or have a drink at the fabulous Buddha Bar restaurant in Paris. He has really outdone himself with this fine selection. There are so many different styles of music, yet they all blend together in a beautiful display of sounds that truly transport you. Nirvana through music?? You bet!!

This double c.d was a complete suprise discovery and was a delight from the first moment it hit my speakers. The first c.d is by far the superior one, the music cocoons you in a layers of morrocan, trance and beautiful haunting melodies. I could not take it off my stereo, perfect for lying in a hammock with a strong drink on a balmy summers evening. essential for anyone who knows how to sit back and chill.

Eastern-flavored worldbeat,
By A Customer
This review is from: Buddha Bar III (Audio CD)
This is an Eastern-flavored set. The one exception might be the Gotan Project's "Triptico" that begins Disc 2, but it fits right in.I first listened to this CD during a three-hour drive back from Houston in the wee hours of Easter morning in horrendously stormy weather. The first disc, "Dream," didn't particularly live up to its title, though I enjoyed it anyway. The second disc, however, was a literal "Joy," with the music propelling me through the lightning and driving rain with a degree of appropriateness that will make it an enduring memory. It was as if the music were choreographed to the road and weather. If you are at all interested in worldbeat/dance hybrids, buy this and try your favorite highway cruise with Disc 2 playing. It's not bad just sitting home listening, either!

Buy this just for "Joy".,
By A Customer
This review is from: Buddha Bar III (Audio CD)
"Joy" (Disc 2), a bit more up tempo, is much more to my preference than "dream" (Disc 1). "Joy" is a great driving, working, or party mix. Bit of an indian / world music vibe with great loungey electronica beats.

Buy this CD and listen to it. In doing so you allow your mind to go on a journey. Start by imagining yourself reclining in a comfortable and lavish lounge in Paris... close your eyes, you will roam far and wide over Mediterranean soundscapes from places like Morocco, Andalucian Spain, Algeria. Enjoy the atmospheres it invites you to drink in. The disks may seem expensive, but the trip they offer requires no plane tickets... just the music.

Definitely my kind music!!!!,

The first one I heard, got in love, and in few months collected all other CD's from Ravin and Claude Challe. Only "Lover Dose" is still missing in my collection. I got "Buddha Bar IV" last week (important notice: do not listen alone, only with your love!) No other kind of music is good enough for me any more. "Buddha Bar III" is my favourite. Ravin, thank you for happiness, for smiles on my face, for those wonderful sounds and rhythms that you brought to my home. |
