5.0 out of 5 stars East meets west
A few weeks back I was perusing the Buddha Bar section at my favorite record store where the club cds were located. 3.0 out of 5 stars not really "lounge" per se
This is a great new age, instrumental music disc but not really "lounge" per se according to the popular definition set by such things as Hotel Costes, Paris Lounge or Buddha Bar series.

FYI.

A few weeks back I was perusing the Buddha Bar section at my favorite record store where the club cds were located. I came across "Buddha Lounge 2" and immediately thought that some record label was trying to copy the more popular Buddha Bar series. I kinda still feel that way but as I am writing this review and listening to the cd but after hearing the music on this cd, I think it is good that the people behind this series has embraced the idea of putting out music that "...enlightens the mind and nourishes the soul", something similiar to the purpose of the Buddha Bar compilations. "Buddha Lounge 2" is an exquisite collection of multi-cultural music fused with modern dance beats. For me, it is a difficult search to find a good chill out compilation that doesn't use the same ol' artists and/or songs that I already have on other cds. Not so with the Buddha Bar series and now "Buddha Lounge2". Steve Gordon who compiled this cd chose some of the most beautiful Asian-influenced music that I have ever heard. I found songs like Rudy K's Cosmic Island" and Ginko Garden's "Blossoms From India" very soothing and spiritually fulfilling. The music picks up the beat with Jaya Lakshmi's "Sundara". What a beautiful voice! There was not one song on this cd that I did not like. I found "Buddha Lounge2" irresistable and it has made me a big fan of this series. I look forward to checking out more music from this series.

5.0 out of 5 stars A Chill-Out Compilation that really delivers!, May 20, 2003

I have a huge collection of chill out CDs. They all have some great tracks on them, but almost all of them have at least one or two clunkers which really spoil the mood. Not so with Buddha-Lounge 2 - this is one of the few chill out CDs I have ever heard that is consistantly good from start to finish. Every single track is sensual, exotic and sophisticated. I love to put this on at intimate parties. It's like having my own downtempo DJ playing my fav chill out tracks. Highest recommendation!

5.0 out of 5 stars Highly recommended, May 1, 2003
By A Customer
This review is from: Buddha-Lounge 2 (Audio CD)
Buddha-Lounge 2 perfectly encompasses the new Down-Tempo Lounge music that is so popular now in many European clubs and just catching on in the US. Each of its tracks gives the listener a moment to reflect and relax, or gently sway with its diverse offerings: from Tya's Oriental syncopation to Ginko Garden's Asian visions, from David and Steve Gordon's native American to Ptschka's Spanish guitar, from Lakshmi's celebratory chant to Toires' Afro-Asian dream world. They each carry beautifully the chill-out and sweet gentleness that has made this type of music so popular. Highly recommended for background music when conversation is wanted, for relaxing at the end of the day and for romantics who want to lounge in each other's arms.

5.0 out of 5 stars What electronica should sound like, September 25, 2007

I really like dance electronica. That said, there's only so much of it that's different. This compilation is the best of the stuff that makes me move and relax, at the same time. I never get tired of this series. Same goes for every one of the Buddha-Lounge albums by Sequoia Records.

5.0 out of 5 stars Multi-Cultural Chill-out, September 19, 2007
This review is from: Buddha-Lounge 2 (Audio CD)
This is one of those albums that turns out to be even better than you thought it would be. Not only is there not a bad song in the set, the mood it creates is really great. I have used this for everything from unwinding after work, dinner with friends and it's also ideal for bedroom listening, if you know what I mean. I highly recommend this to anyone who wants tastefullly done chill/lounge music.

As with all the other Budda Lounge CDs, this is an awesome mix of hypnotic and relaxing music. Unlike some music that's relaxing because it is lifeless, this is relaxing because it allows the mind and spirit to soar and drift in and out of reality. Beautiful.

5.0 out of 5 stars Downtempo Chillout with a Spiritual Twist, May 2, 2003

I've been a fan of New Age and World music for a long time and though I've never been one for the "club scene" the burgeoing genre of "downtempo chillout" music, which had its genesis in the quieter backrooms of the rave scene movement throughout the world, is one that I am really getting into. Having recently travelled to India I discovered a whole underground music scene there that fuses trance, technology and spirituality into an intriguingly beautiful hybrid musical form. Such is the case with Buddha-Lounge 2, the newest offering from David & Steve Gordon and the folks at Sequoia Records. A follow up to the massively popular Buddha-Lounge, this new release goes further and deeper in exploring this fascinating genre. This music is incredibly relaxing and perfect as either background music for intimate social gatherings and quiet conversation or for setting a perfect mood for late night candlelit encounters. I've actually been using it for meditation and my wife has found it perfect for her sacred dance gatherings. The tunes themselves are exotic, lush and diverse. From the upbeat devotional "Sundara" by new Sequoia artist Jaya Lakshmi to the intricate melodies and lush instrumentations of Hidden Forces All Around by Opera to Relax (my favorite), this CD has something for the lover of both the sacred and the sensual. Buddha-Lounge 2 opens the door and admits you into a delighfully blissful downtemo musical realm. I look forward to returning to hear more in the future.

The songs here are all really wonderful and amazingly well done! This is the first album of the Buddha Lounge set that I heard (I first learned of this after getting Hotel Tara: The Intimate Side of Buddha-Lounge). I am thrilled with it! It is packed full of exotic beats and rhythms that make you move into a treasured mellow state. Awesome, Highly Recommended!!

5.0 out of 5 stars Super chill, laidback, GREAT!, September 19, 2007
This review is from: Buddha-Lounge 2 (Audio CD)
I recently purchased Buddha Lounge, Vol. 5 and couldn't get enough. I wanted to hear more of this wonderful series so I purchased the first (Buddha-Lounge) and this second album in the series and gave them a listen. I was NOT disappointed. The smooth sounds and gentle urban rhythms mix together beautifully. This album is perfect for any dinner party. Buy the whole series and enjoy a full evening of great music!
