5.0 out of 5 stars One of my favorites of the series, January 12, 2009

This review is from: Buddha: Volume 7: Prince Ajatasattu (Paperback)
After traveling with the Buddha and the vast cast of characters throughout the series, the Buddha himself returns home only to find that he has become an international celebrity. Tezuka continues to craft his manga masterpiece and place the final setup for the conclusion of this beautifully crafted comic book series. The Buddha enlightens and entertains. Enjoy!

Enjoyable and attractive reading. Buddha goes from the easy life with a huge following to traveling on various quests while engaging challenges, sick or crazy people for him to deal with as well as whole nations of people in trouble (or wanting to give Buddha trouble).

4.0 out of 5 stars Fables of Buddhist Teachings, January 22, 2010
By

This review is from: Buddha: Volume 7: Prince Ajatasattu (Paperback)
This volume is very good, in that it's mostly small fables that help illustrate the teachings of Buddhism. Buddha returns to Magadha with his followers, and are given land to meditate and worship on. Prince Ajatasattu, whom this book is named, does not like Buddha and tries to kill him, an action with great consequences for all. Ananda struggles to find redemption for his murderous past. And Devadatta proves to be less holy-minded then he has led others to believe.

After much time Buddha relives he's been ideal in his work. And heads to his former kingdom, to spread his teachings and confront Prince Crystal.

Like other volumes, the art work and storytelling is wonderful.

This review is from: Buddha: Volume 7: Prince Ajatasattu (Paperback)
The 'Buddha' manga series has brought a new life and dimension to the character of Siddartha Gautama. The series has been a wonderful read, with one enjoyable plot point after another. Volume 7 is no less disappointing as Buddha gets on in his years and has to deal with the fame he has gained for his wisdom. Solid read, 4.5/5 stars.
