I have just begun to read the book for the 3rd time in full and find that each time it really helps to bring some great perspective to real life. The author is really clever at telling his story which enables you to identify with him and the kind of lifestyle, dreams and aspirations we tend to strive for as part of modern living. I often refer back to the book if ever I am frustrated or down and it really helps to remind me of how I can quite easily adopt a different view that puts me in a really calm and peaceful place! Fantastic - thoroughly recommend to anyone!

5.0 out of 5 stars Great introduction to Buddhism!, September 17, 2005

I've read at least five books on Buddhism so far, and I would highly recommend this as the best introduction to Buddhism for Westerners of any of them. The author has a great talent for explaining Buddhist principles in a way that neophytes (like myself) can understand, and his personal story is engaging, and one that many busy people will be able to relate to. I'm reading it for the second time and still finding gems of wisdom. Great book!

5.0 out of 5 stars Easy path to sanity, October 26, 2007

This review is from: Buddhism for Busy People: Finding Happiness in an Uncertain World (Paperback)
At a time when modern civilisation has largely outgrown the need for belief-based religion, this book offers a way for busy people to discover a deeper connection with reality, and a more fulfilling and productive approach to life.

If you are dissatisfied with the cynical materialism of modern life, in need of some spiritual direction, but can't bring yourself to believe the various irrational dogmas essential to most major creeds, then this is for you.

Here is a user friendly and informal way to start changing the way you relate to the world. Simple methods, easily verified. Whether you are interested in the basics of Buddhism, or just a more productive and satisfying experience of life, this book is an excellent start.

There are a few parts that could be skipped over, and he does not always seem to be clear whether he means "objective reality" or our perception of it. But on the whole, if more people read this book, it would surely lead to a saner world.
