Available from these sellers.

Book Description

February 12, 1995
Buddhist Writings contains shorter and medium-length traditional Buddhist texts fundamental to the study and practice of Serene Reflection Meditation (Soto Zen). Included are complete translations of The Scripture of Brahma's Net (a source of the Mahayana Precepts) and The Scripture on Fully Perfected Enlightenment, neither previously available in full to the English-speaking general public. New translations of Bodhidharma's Discourse on Pure Meditation, Keizan's Instructions on How to Do Pure Meditation, and The Scripture on the Buddha's Last Teachings are also included, along with three key sections from the Lotus Scripture and two long aphoristic poems by Chinese Meditation Masters.

These writings were translated from their Chinese versions, as given in the Taisho Gemban Daizokyo (the great collection of Scriptures and other religious writings in Chinese and Japanese) or in other reliable scholarly editions, by Rev. Hubert Nearman, with Rev. Master P.T.N.H. Jiyu-Kennett and Rev. Daizui MacPhillamy as consultants and editors. As with other translations from Shasta Abbey Press, these new translations make the Soto Zen tradition's writings easily accessible and comprehensible for western Buddhists. This book provides invaluable guidance for Buddhist practice.

Buddhist Writings is handsomely covered with a durable plastic jacket with gold embossed lettering. Buddhist Writings is also specially bound so it will lie flat when open and, is pocket-sized for easy handling.
