Mel Beeby's eighth adventure takes her to medieval Japan, searching for a lost soul. Mel and Reuben have been studying Soul Retrieval, running through all manner of challenging scenarios in virtual reality, in order to learn the specialised skills necessary to rescue human souls. The two angels are sent to Japan, to try and re-unite a young girl's soul with her body, as she lies in a coma. It isn't her time to die. In their quest for the soul, Mel and Reuben have to enter a realm that's magical and exquisite, like an idealised Japanese fairy-tale dream. Feudal lords, fabulous magical castles, ninjas, wandering monks, waterfalls, demons and shapeshifters. But like all dreams, it has its dark side, and the Japanese afterlife has some extremely scary aspects. Mel and Reuben must stick together...and at the end, there is even a little hint of romance for our two angel buddies!

About the Author
Annie Dalton has worked as a waitress, a cleaner, a factory worker but is now a full-time writer. Her book The After Dark Princess won the Nottinghamshire Book Award. Night Maze was shortlisted for the Carnegie Medal as was The Real Tilly Beany. Naming the Dark and Swan Sister were shortlisted for the Sheffield Children's Book Award. Annie was born in Dorset but now lives in Suffolk. She has three children: Anna, Reuben and Maria (the inspiration for many of the Angels Unlimited titles) and is the proud grandmother of Sophie and Isabella.

This book is wicked. Mel Beeby has been to some weird places but NEVER japan!!!!! I like this book cause it has a twist to it. It was enjoyable to read cause its about:mel beeby is on a mission to find a japanese popstar soul but the pods are after it to. The book is a game because mel is like playing a game if she doesit right she wins and gets the soul if she does it wrong she has to try to make up for it. I think ANNIE DALTON is wonderful and she should write some more angels unlimited books (can't wait for keeping it real to come out-angels unlimited)
