5.0 out of 5 stars Scott is a god
This is one of the best books I have read in many years. I was rolling on the floor laughing at least ten times during course of this book. I would recomend it to anybody who enjoys Scott's work. I think I have read the book 5 times since I bought it last month. 6 stars!

versus
1.0 out of 5 stars Babble on, Buddy
Being a big "Kids in the Hall" fan, and having seen the five star rating, I really thought I'd get a big kick out of this. What a disappointment. The jokes are tired and flat and the situations all strain too hard to be absurd. I like Scott, he's my third favorite Kid, but somehow the "Buddy" character just needs his vocal delivery to work. There are some bits that should...

I have never laughed out loud at a book before, but Buddy Babylon made me spit my water halfway across the room quite a few times. By far, the funniest book i've ever read.

5.0 out of 5 stars Funny and, surprisingly, very touching, July 21, 1999
This review is from: Buddy Babylon: The Autobiography of Buddy Cole (Paperback)
This book is extremely funny and entertaining. I never got bored reading it, and for me that's quite an accomplishment. What surprised me, though, is how well-written and genuinely touching it was. Don't take me wrong-it's not schmaltzy or anything-but the characters seem real.

OK, maybe not the two-headed daughter.

5.0 out of 5 stars My sides hurt and I scared people on the train!, July 13, 1999
By A Customer
This review is from: Buddy Babylon: The Autobiography of Buddy Cole (Paperback)
I admit it, I thought Buddy was WONDERFUL on Kids In The Hall. I watched him so many times I learned the monologues. Now I have a whole new source to draw from. I laughed so hard at parts of this book I actually drew the attention of people on the train I take home. I am giving my copy to my roommate to read when I am done. And I would suggest it to anyone with a biting sence of humor, and an open mind. BUY IT! (And as a side note, I don't know if it helps to be gay or not. I am gay, so I don't know what it would be like to read this book as a straight person!)

5.0 out of 5 stars Great, funny, very good., August 23, 1999

Yes! By the marvelous works of The Kids in the Hall, or at least one of the member's character, this is an astonishing book. But again, we are plagued by a work that isn't humorous to those who aren't previously Kids in the Hall fans, like their movie. But then again, I am a fan, and I loved it. To put it simply: Funny, read.

5.0 out of 5 stars This book is THE best!, June 9, 1998
By A Customer
This review is from: Buddy Babylon: The Autobiography of Buddy Cole (Paperback)
It's been three years since "Kids in the Hall" went off the air, and the Buddy Cole scenes in BRAIN CANDY were cut out. It was due time to get out Buddy Cole fix, and it is not a disapointment. The book is funny, and it isn't too skimpy. (you know...100 pages and 75 of them pictures. You don't get that!) Read it again and again!

5.0 out of 5 stars Buddy At His Best, January 1, 2001
This review is from: Buddy Babylon: The Autobiography of Buddy Cole (Paperback)
I wasn't always a Kids In The Hall fan, that is until I saw Buddy Cole, after seeing one of his funniest monologues to date, I couldn't resist. I began to watch the show every day. Some say I'm the female Buddy. I say the character and I share alot of similar views on life and fashion. Being an author myself I find that I'm very skeptical about literature. Basically if I didn't write it, it's trash...reading Buddy Babylon has changed my views. I really enjoyed the book from start to finish. It kept me up many nights, as I found it hard to put it down. When it got to the point where I only had twenty or so pages left a terrible saddness came upon me. Buddy Babylon is the kind of book you never want to end. A never ending story if you will. It's becomes your best friend, best source of entertainment, and enlightens your soul with insight, and a warm indescribable feeling. All in all, as taken from the man himself, if I were stuck on a desert island with just one record, one person and one book....my answer would be The Best Of Elton John, Scott Thompson and of course Buddy Babylon: The Autobiography of Buddy Cole. Cheers!

5.0 out of 5 stars Babylon me ANYTIME!, March 16, 2000
By A Customer
This review is from: Buddy Babylon: The Autobiography of Buddy Cole (Paperback)
I have read this book 27 times already, and it gets better each read! If you think your life is a little sick and twisted, read Buddy's story! I am a huge fan of The Kids in the Hall, and think Scott Thompson is GOD! This book peeks into why Buddy is the way he is...FLAWLESS! You have never read a more creative book in your life, nor will you ever, (unless part two comes about)! Reading this book will leave you continually fantisizing about the Canadian wilderness, and thanking God your not there! You will become a child again, and pretend Buddy is a close personal friend, (who you don't like)! I no linger fear circus freaks, but now love them as other people's children. This book is a true spititual journey! Buddy is genius!

5.0 out of 5 stars Buy this and laugh yourself silly!!, April 26, 1999
By A Customer
This review is from: Buddy Babylon: The Autobiography of Buddy Cole (Paperback)
The four funniest books I have read in my life were: 1) Candide by Voltaire, 2) A Confederacy of Dunces by John Kennedy O'Toole, 3) My Gorgeous Life by Dame Edna (Barry Humphries) and 4) Buddy Babylon. This book is so funny, I was laughing out loud while reading it during lunch at a restaurant. Scott Thompson is funny to the extreme. And I do not mean "smile" funny but out loud hilarious funny. This is the kind of comic book I will be reading every couple of years just to enjoy all of the routines and great lines over and over again. Absolutely the funniest book in years!!!

5.0 out of 5 stars One of the best books I've ever had the pleasure of reading., August 23, 1998
This review is from: Buddy Babylon: The Autobiography of Buddy Cole (Paperback)
Cheers to Mr.Thompson for this extremely humerous look at gay life through the truly fabulous eyes of Mr. Buddy Cole. I laughed so hard I fell off the stairmaster at the gym (only read this book in public if you don't mind people edging away from you as you laugh out loud.) I was fortunate enough to hear Mr.Thompson at one of his last readings in San Francisco, and later have the book signed by him. I would hope the publishers at Dell Island Books give Scott the huge advancement on his next book he so richly deserves.
