Buddy Clark Was A Talented Crooner,

This review is from: Buddy Clark Collection (Audio CD)
"The Buddy Clark Collection" features this fine crooner in the Bing Crosby, Russ Columbo, Perry Como tradition. This CD covers Clark's all too brief career from the early 1930s until his tragic death in 1949 at age 36. Clark (born Samuel Goldberg)had a rich baritone and easy singing style, and his fine renditions of tunes like "Linda," "Peg O' My Heart," and "That Old Gang Of Mine" became the definitive versions. A bit of trivia: Clark did the "ghost singing" for various tone-deaf leading men in many 1930s and early 1940s movie musicals. He was just coming into his own when he perished in a plane crash. A superb ballad singer, Clark was one of the all-time great vocalists of American popular song.

I've admired Buddy Clarks' voice for years. It was so unfortunate for him to be killed at such an early age. He had a great future to look forward to.
I had been looking for some way to locate any recordings that he may have done. Luckily Amazon had such a source and I was able to purchase the CD from one of their stores. Kudos to Amazon!

Buddy Clark, an early crooner who could really sing!,

I grew up listening to Buddy Clark on his radio show on CBS, then in 1947-49 he had a super hit with the song "Linda." His voice was dubbed into the movie about vaudevillian Joe Howard in the movie "I Wonder Who's Kissing her Now." He died in a private airplane crash in Los Angeles in 1949. He was a great loss to the music world. His recordings are getting very scarce which is a shame. "Ballerina" was another song he sang which was a hit.

Excellent selection of his songs, outstanding quality of recording and a pleasure to listen to. Still one of the best crooners ever.

Buddy Clark was our favorite singer when my wife and I were going together.Oh how it
broke our hearts when his beautiful lilting voice was taken out of our lives by his tragic plane accident. Now after all these years we were able to recapture some fond and wonderful memories to hear his beautiful voice again on the Buddy Clark Collection. Thank you for preserving these wonderful treasures of music. We have been married now for sixty years. Sincerely, Dale F. Kinkel |
