As an animal rescuer, I love this book! I am going to read it every time I do a humane education class to younger kids. Its a fairly simple story that may not keep older kids attention. Great for young ones up to maybe age 5 or 6.

great book for young readers, my grandchildren are ages 10 to 5. They all

enjoyed this book. We all were a bit teary eyed for Buddy in his previous life being mistreated, but happy for him at the ending. I think it reminds children to be kind & compassionate with animals. Also, the illustrations are adorable.

This book is just amazing. The artwork really captures the spirit of DOG

This book would appeal to both adults and children, and would make a fantastic gift for anyone who loves dogs.

You will feel a real emotional connection with Buddy. There are some authors and artists who can just reach out from the pages and touch your heart, and here you will find that.

I am purchasing multiple copies to donate to libraries, schools, etc

Our animal shelter has given this book to area libraries, and uses it in classroom settings to educate children about animal neglect. The issue is handled in a sensitve way and the story has a happy ending. The illustrations are beautiful.

This is a great picture book to teach children to help animals that can't help themselves. I read it to a group of 3rd graders and they loved the book. The pictures are very detailed and you feel like you are part of the story. The story does have a happy ending and Buddy deserved the second chance he got.

My therapy dog, Webster, and I do Story Time at our local library weekly for pre-school aged children. My focus for the next few months is going to be treatment of animals and bullying. This book is a great addition to the program. I can read it and build on it to get the message across to the children. I'd recommend this book. Illustrations are great!!

I am a HEAR (humane education ambassador reader) volunteer and this book was on their recommended reading list. I used this book to do a 3 hour session with children with learning disabilities and they couldn't get enough of Buddy. I use this book when I take my dogs to read with elementary school children (PAWS for Reading) and the kids pick this book over any other, every time. I recently used this book when I gave a seminar about humane reading, to a group of adults and there wasn't a dry eye in the house - and everyone wanted to know where he/she could get a copy.

Buddy unchained evokes more empathy toward animals than any other book I've ever seen (and I've seen a lot!). Buy it (lots of used copies around), read it, read it to kids, read it to adults, read it to Michael Vick, and read it to your "buddy" - and cherish it!!

I love this book. Important message about the treatment of animals. So sweet! I cried.

I love this book and my daughter loves it too! The illustrations by Joe Hyatt just come to life and are full of color.
