5.0 out of 5 stars Quirky and absorbing January 11, 2015
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
From the get-go this superbly titled book plunges into the world of the undead with a new spin. Lucky and her friend Vicki have taken over her dead uncle’s body moving service. Equipped with a real, honest to God, hearse they try to do their job of moving bodies until they find themselves in the midst of a vampire killing spree that somehow all relates to Lucky’s family and her missing father. Both Lucky and Vicki are likeable characters and quickly draw us into the story. One aspect of the book I enjoyed was how different vampires are portrayed as having distinct personalities and regrets, especially Austin. The ending is perfect for a sequel. Will Lucky turn into a Buffy-type character, or perhaps find a cure for the disease of vampirism? That is or the next story to tell!

Wow.. Great Book! Highly recommended and I wish I had actually read this book sooner! I really, really struggled to put this book down.. it was an absolute blast! Very interesting read, insanely fun! And what I loved the most was that it wasn't as predictable as some of the other similar books out there!

Highly recommended and I give this a 5 star review!

4.0 out of 5 stars Budget Body Movers, well written October 13, 2014
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
Budget Body Movers, if the title alone doesn't get you the story itself will. It is a very good read everything flows the way a story should, I have to say it was a page turner for me, I didn't want to put it down until I finished it.

2.0 out of 5 stars Decent Mechanics but Fails to Deliver May 16, 2015
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
My scoring system: 1-poor 2-fair 3-average, could have been better 4-good 5-excellent

The author has decent writing skills. The story flowed fairly well, the pace was quick, and there were not a lot of misspellings or poor grammar. However, it could have been much better. A smart reader knows from the beginning what the big "secret" is, so the reading experience is about how the author gets us to the big reveal. Unfortunately, that journey is one-dimensional. Characters' actions and reactions are both unreasonable & unbelievable throughout the book. For example, everyone in this book who finds out the real situation (I am being intentionally vague to avoid spoilers, although most will have it figured out within a few pages) takes it completely in stride, with no emotional reaction whatsoever. Characters make a decision to walk into a situation where they will be in extreme danger and take no weapons, do little to prepare, and express little to no worries. No matter how surreal the world or situation is, the characters' reactions to the world, situations, and other characters must be realistic & believable. Otherwise, I can't relate to them. Even if they don't react emotionally, they should at least react intelligently. For example, if they don't appear nervous or afraid, they should at least intellectually be thinking "what could happen if I do this, and how should I prepare?" These characters don't, which made the read frustrating and boring. Not recommended.

5.0 out of 5 stars I enjoyed this book very much March 30, 2015
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
Hillary Stone keeps your attention page after page. I enjoyed this book very much. Lucky Day is a charming character the will have you laughing, crying, and smacking your head in confusion. Her friend Vicki is right there with her, through thick and thin. I don't know about you, but when I think of hearse drivers it wouldn't be two young women.
Lucky's mom and uncle die so she takes over the family business with Vickie there to help. Along comes Douglas, a man looking for his missing father. Douglas soon gets entangled with the same things in town that has Lucky tangled up.
Good book, good pace, wonderful characters. I would recommend this book highly.

More About the Author

Hillary Stone grew up in a small town where her mother was the librarian at the city library. She always loved to read and dreamed of being a writer when she grew up.

Life quickly flew by and before she realized it, she was retiring after twenty-five years of public school teaching.

But, Hillary's dream never died, nor did her interest in the paranormal. Determined to fulfill her goal of becoming a writer, she wrote "Budget Body Movers". The idea for the book came to her over twenty years ago when she saw a black hearse, piled full of rock and roll albums, being given away on Halloween night. She didn't win the contest, but the idea for "Budget Body Movers" was born.

Hillary now lives in the Dallas-Fort Worth area with her husband. She is hard at work on the second book in the Blood Circle Series. She would love to hear from you and can be reached at
