Excellent value for the money, exceeded all my expectations,
By I have another 3B Scientific model of the brain that was around $200.00 and this model is comparable in most ways! I would say that makes it a real bargain, especially when the other one doesn't show the arteries and this one does. I don't think you can go wrong with this, especially if you are a high school or college student. If you are medical student, you may want to get one of the better models from 3B Scientific or the Anatomical Chart Company. Both of these vendors sell on Amazon.

I needed a model for better illustrating the parts of the brain affected by drugs and alcohol. This model serves the purpose, but it is pretty hard to take apart and harder to put together. It seems to be made of a rubbery plastic substance and is held together by very small diam. threaded rod rather than smooth steel rod. This is why it comes apart hard, but, in all fairness, it does stay together quite well...good for passing around a room full of people. If I had a bigger budget, I would spend more on a labeled version that snaps together more acurately, but I don't and this works well enough for now. I may label it myself.

shoddy merchandise,
I was quite disappointed in this brain. I use a colleague's brain model when discussing brain injuries with clients, and was looking forward to having my very own brain at last. When this arrived, however, it looked and felt exceedingly cheap, was very difficult to dissassemble, and I returned it immediately. I had expected better from this manufacturer. Budget, indeed!

A great value at the Amazon[...] price.,
I bought this particular brain model from Amazon to help me study for a graduate-level neuropsychology class. And while it didn't have every structure I needed to know, it had the vast majority of them. As the product description indicates, this model features two different planes of section (mid-sagittal and horizontal), a detachable unit comprising the diencephalon, midbrain and hindbrain, and a detachable cerebellum (yes, I know that the cerebellum is also part of the hindbrain.) Most of the cranial nerves are readily accessible, which is also a plus. A few drawbacks- I personally find the painting on the diencephalon and midbrain areas a bit confusing, and the manufacturer's diagrams list very few brain areas. The interested student will want to consult a brain atlas or their textbook instead. Nonetheless, it is a big help to have a three-dimensional brain model to compare with pictures and diagrams, especially if one wants to get a greater sense of proportion between various brain structures (e.g., the corpora quadragemina compared with the globus pallidus or the pons). I don't know whether I would have purchased this model at the list price, but at the Amazon price ($[...] as of the writing of this review), it is well worth the money.

Poor quality and little detail... more of a novelty than anything else,

Well, it's cheaper than a real anatomical model but it feels and looks like a poorly made toy. It might be a cute desk decoration, but other than that, this is not a useful model for anyone interested in neuroanatomy. I suggest getting a real model from a medical supply company rather than this.

This review is from: Budget Brain With Arteries Model
I was very displeased with the quality of this item. The right side of the cerebellum won't even stay attached. The paint job on this is comical. It looks like a 5yr old painted it. You can't easily distinguish many features because the sloppy paint job obscures them. It looks NOTHING like the picture (sans the brains shape, kinda hard to mess that one up!). I am (or was going too!) using this for a college level Anatomy and Physiology course. Buyer beware! Spring for the more expensive model. I'll be returning this.

I just received it from the mail. It is so hard to assemble and dissassemble. Some parts are not even painted. It don't look like the one in the picture.
