This is a great little pocket book that one can take on trips in and around Burnos Aires. It is well written, contains a ton of information, easy to carry and very nice pictures. We could not have done without this guide when we recently visited Buenos Aires.Several city street maps make getting around town and locating attractions easy.

This is a fantastic small guide that does not take up to much space on the go. I loved the pull-out map. We spent a week in Buenos Aires and tried a lot of the "top 10" suggestions - they were great and not necessarily tourist hot spots. A lot of restaurants, bars, cafe's and the Tangueria El Beso seemed very authentic and we felt surrounded by locals rather than tourists. I was skeptical, because I am not a huge fan of top 10 lists, but this guide is extremely well done. I highly recommend it. It was published in 2009 and the information seemed current except for restaurant "Resto" on Montevideo, which even our taxi driver could not find. Everything else was easy to find thanks to the great maps provided.

You can depend on Eyewitness Travel Guide books to give you the information you need when traveling in distant lands.
The book is compact yet through. We bought the Buesnos Aires and Rio de Janiero versions for a recent trip and were thankful we did.

After comparing the different types of travel book publications, I prefer the DK Eyewitness travel books. I love everything from the composition of the book, to its layout, to its content. This in particular is slim and light, perfect to carry in my purse when I get to my destination. It includes a fullsized map too. The book highlights all the must see in the first few pages, then elaborates on them in sections.. Each section includes a map that pinpoints the landmarks, and must-sees, and the best feature I think is the suggestion panel they have for each "barrio"/ neighborhood and what you can do and see in a day. Great for those short trips in big cities!
And as far as the feel of the book, I love the smooth, semi glossy cover that is durable that will withstand all the flipping through, bending of the book, etc.. I love the glossy pages, the font, the colors, and just the overall feel. Really great quality. Iam the type of traveler that researches my destination so by the time I am there, I have a pretty good depth of basic knowledge of what to do or what to skip. These books helps me accomplish that.

It is the best guide book on Buenos Aires I found, however it is somewhat deficient in some regards and could use some updating and improving,

Book was very helpful and easy to carry around. Used many of the recommendations and was pleased with all choices. Top ten books have always been good choices when traveling to new places.

I've been a big fan of the DK Eyewitness Top 10 series for years. They're a great series of books that fit into a cargo pants pocket, are bright and colorful and provide excellent maps and lists to help you maximize your time in any given location. I have both the paperback version and bought the Kindle version on a whim to see if this might be the wave of the future.

Sadly, it's not quite there yet.

The same information is there - the very same helpful information that I rely on, but it lacks the well-formatted version that I'm used to in the book. The maps are the same, but I didn't like tapping back and forth.

It's not to say that this book is bad - it just lacks the appeal of the paperback copy of the Top 10 BA guide. The few dollar price difference makes it a no-brainer to stick with the tried and true version of the DK Top 10 paperbacks.

When I was in BA, this book was the most helpful! Too bad Rick Steves only writes about Europe, but if you go to a country that Rick Steves does not write about, get this book! So glad I bought it!!!
