I had a little bit of Bills fever (usually fades after the first couple weeks of the season) so I went looking for some Bills books. Since I have read a few Bills history books in the past, I wasn't that anxious to read the same info over and over again. Since the title of this book was "The Complete Illustrated History", I thought it would mostly be pictures which was fine with me. However, that was not the case. Fortunately, the contents of the book weren't just a re-hash of the books I have already read. I was pleasantly surprised at how much I learned about the Bills history. It made me feel like the other books were written by the Bills marketing staff, and this book was written by a loyal, but long suffering fan who wasn't afraid to tell it like it is.

I have been critical of Bills ownership for quite a while now, but this book just cements those feelings. Yes, Ralph Wilson brought the Bills to Buffalo, but his personnel decisions have been so bad, so often that I wonder if it would have been better if he chose another city. Maybe, someone else would have come along later and put a team here. Someone who would use more sense in making personnel decision. Such as promoting an assistant to head coach instead of naming your GM as head coach TWICE even after he was miserable the first time around. Mr. Wilson also replaced a GM with his Marketing Guru. The list goes on and on.

Oh well, I guess I can't look a gift horse in the mouth. We have a team in Buffalo, and hopefully someday they will turn things around.

All in all, this book was great, but depressing. If you want to read about true Bills history with no censoring of the facts, read this book. If you have Bill fever and want something to increase your pride in the Bills, then this might not be the book for you.

Hubby loved it. Brought back lots of memories for him, and reminded him why he was a Bills fan to begin with.
