This is a knock off, but it's a knock-off done RIGHT.
Joseph J. Shatrowsky III
Great responsiveness on every button, and the D-Pad handles diagonal directions like a pro.
Sam
Absolutely phenomenal product, 10/10 would buy again, and still might.

This is a USB controller for your PC. Sounds simple, right? Why buy this, when this controller looks like the Japanese NES, and not the one I grew up with, right?
Hold onto your hats.
----
I should start off by saying that this controller's drivers are plug-n'-play, and when they are installed, you can use XPadder or Joy2Key to map the buttons to keyboard keys. Otherwise, you can map the buttons to your favorite emulator's input.
----
This controller is based off of the controller that the Famicom (Japanese NES) had, as opposed to the NES. An important thing to remember is that the Player 1 controller for the Famicom had all the same buttons as the NES, this controller just has extra buttons.
The extra buttons are for playing SNES games, as the extra buttons on the right are X and Y, and some shoulder buttons are hiding on the top. Above the Start & Select buttons are Turbo and Clear; buttons that let you use a turbo function with any button combination. Just hold the buttons you want to rapid-fire, press "Turbo," and that's it. Press those buttons again, and they'll be firing rapidly in-game! Hold the same buttons and press "Clear," to reset this.
Aside from the extra buttons, the rest of the buttons are amazing. You might notice that on most other NES USB controllers, the D-Pad is absolutely terrible. On this controller, the money is worth it, as the controller is made in Japan, and the D-Pad and buttons are EXCELLENT! Great responsiveness on every button, and the D-Pad handles diagonal directions like a pro.
The Start and Select buttons are made of rubber, too, if that tickles your fancy.
------
So why would I only give this a 4/5?
To put it simply, I do not like the gold sticker.

There are sooooo many crappy knock-offs out there. It's like these companies don't care about the product they sell, they just throw together crap and make a quick buck. This is a knock off, but it's a knock-off done RIGHT. All of the buttons are extremely high quality and very clicky. When you push a button, you KNOW you pushed it. The Dpad is superb. Doing diagonals and the like feel natural. Oh, and it's also one of the BEST Dpads I've ever used. Someone mentioned the gold sticker being a problem. I've never owned a famicom, just a NES, so I can't comment about that. All I gotta say is it doesn't bother me.

This is probably the best controller out there if you're into NES emulation. It's a famicon controller, but the shape and feel is pretty much identical. There's extra buttons, too, and I love how the made the L and R buttons are discrete to retain the simple feel of a famicon/NES controller. I could talk forever about this controller. At this price, it's a bargain. Go get one, and don't look further.

If you play Nintendo games on your computer, you should probably buy this thing. I've been through my fair share of PC controllers and none of them come close to matching this one for my nostalgia gaming. The moment I plugged this thing in, I could feel myself getting better at Paperboy. Then I hit the half pipe in Skate or Die 2 and I knew I had found something special. It just FEELS right. We are in love now and are set to be wed in 3 months.

I got the iBuffalo version, which is the newer version. I assume the Buffalo versions are all sold out. These were made as limited edition. I don't think they expected to sell so well, after all, this product was only intended to be used/sold within Japan. So I assume additional controllers were made as iBuffalo. I did some research and it turns out that iBuffalo is Melco Holdings Inc. and Buffalo is Buffalo Inc. However both Inc. shows up within the same webpage, so maybe Melco is a subsidiary company of Buffalo. The one I got is BGCFC801 series. Product quality meets my expectation, however I wish they had the U.S. NES designed version. There's two tiny extra right/left shoulder buttons where you can't see on the pics which comes out to a total of six buttons to play with. Box says it's compatible with Win98, Me, 2000, XP, XP(MCE), Vista, and 7. They placed a Win8 and Win8.1 compatible sticker. It also says it's compatible with DOS/V and NEC/PC98-NX series. Even though the box says it's meant to support Japanese Windows only, it worked with the U.S. Windows but for Win98, it might not work because you would need to download a driver from their website. The way you use the turbo is by pressing/holding onto the turbo button, you press the other button that you want to make turbo. When you want to clear it, you do the same by holding/pressing onto the clear button and by pressing the other button that you want to remove/turn the turbo off.

Man I really really wanted to like this product and recommend it but I can't. The problem with the game pad is that the D-Pad while pushing up goes right or left. Meaning what when playing games like Tecmo Superbowl pushing up my player would go right or left. Similar to many other NES games the controls on the D-Pad are a pain. I tried many NES games like Batman, Ninja Gaiden, Metroid, and MegeMan and you won't be able to move and make jumps or dodge movements the way you want to from a working NES gamepad. Also the controller gold sticker is pealing off (yes its a sticker not a paint job). Really sad to rate this 2 stars because I have the Buffalo Snes gamepad that i love and would recommend you buy instead. The things i do like about the controller are the buttons and turbo feature it comes with. I do have a USB connection cable via nes. So go that way instead and use a old working NES gamepad using a USB connection cable you can find here on amazon fairly cheap.
