Product Description

From the Manufacturer

Last Word is the ultimate creative party game and is the perfect party game for school parties. Be the first Player to advance to the Finish by creatively connecting Subjects and Letters, while racing a Random-Interval Timer and the other Players,  For example, Subject: "Vegetables"... Letter: "C".  Players yell out... Carrots,Cucumbers, Corn, Cauliflower, 'tick-tick' ... The player with the Last Word before the timer sounds advances.

Product Description

Easy to learn, this party-perfect game will have everyone joining in the fun. Let's say, the subject is "vegetables" and the letter is "C." As soon as someone yells out, "Carrots!" the timer begins and players blurt out all the words that they can muster that begin with the letter "C." Get the last word in before the buzzer, and you advance. But beware - the timer has been cleverly programmed to go off at random intervals. Oh, "Celery!" Includes eight pawns, a gameboard, electronic timer, 56 letter cards and 256 subject cards. For 2 to 8 players.

4.0 out of 5 stars A Good Fun Game For More Than Just Parties!, December 28, 2006
This review is from: Last Word (Toy)
I'm always on the lookout for new and exciting games. This game is much more fun and fast paced than I thought it was going to be.

The object of the game is to be the last person to shout out a answer in order to move around the board. Each person has a subject card, these subjects range from "All about parks" to "Things in a video store" to "Vegetables" and so on. At the beginning of each turn, a letter card is turned over. If the letter is "C" for example, each person tries to come up with an answer that both matches their own subject card as well as the letter. Players race to put their card down and give an answer first and then hit the timer. Whichever subject card is played, now everyone tries to match that criteria after the timer goes off. Now, the timer has been rigged to go off at different intervals, however each interval is very short, between 10-30 seconds a turn. Whoever can get the last answer in before the timer goes off moves ahead on the board. There is also a "jump start" where if everyone looks stumped on their original subject cards someone can hit the timer and call out "jump start" and see if they can stump the other players. If nobody can come up with an answer before the timer goes off, the person who initiated the jump start will move forward 2 spaces.

It's a fast paced game that keeps you thinking and seeing how fast your brain can come up with answers of the fly, which makes it both a great party game as well as a educational game. One of the best parts about the game is that it can be played with as few as 2 people. This for me is a huge plus! It seems like nearly all my games require 4 players anymore, so this is a fun one to pull out with smaller crowds. They also include instructions for team play if you are playing with children, large groups or people that just aren't that great at thinking on their feet.

Final Verdict: A great game that can easily be added to anyone's game collection, young, old or anywhere in between.

I played this game for the first time at a family reunion in September and enjoyed it so much that I promptly bought it. It is very fun, interactive, it does get you to think, could broaden your vocabulary. But most of all is a fun, easy to learn group game that gets everyone laughing, negotiating and having to come up with group consensus on the validity of answers. I highly recommend it.

5.0 out of 5 stars Favorite Game!, June 17, 2008

How to Play:
Everyone has a subject card, for example you could have one that said Girl's Names, Player #2 could have Dog Breeds and Player #3 could have All About Getting Old. Then someone flips over a letter card. It's D. Player #2 puts down their subject card (Dog Breeds) and says Dalmatian and hits the buzzer. Then everyone starts saying Dog Breeds that start with D. So you say Dachshund, Player #3 says Doberman, then the buzzer goes off. Player #3 said the last Dog Breed that started with D (before the buzzer) so Player #3 moves one space on the board.

Why its so Much Fun:
I really don't know why its so much fun, it just is. People are trying so hard to think that their brain "over-heats" and starts being stupid. Like your supposed to keep your subject card to yourself but sometimes you pick it up and say it on accident. And we tend to say things that don't even start with the letter. And then there are some subjects that you can come up with some funny things for. Its not the same thing everytime. We could play 4 rounds of it and not get the same combinations, you might get Dog Breeds in the first round and the fourth round but you might not get it with D everytime.

It appeals to all ages!!
It sure does, I've played it with people from 12-grandparents and everyone has so much fun with it. And its just so easy. I mean sometimes you get stumped on one (mine are Cocktails and Things found at a Casino) but thats why you have a trade-in card that allows you to get a new subject card (one time use)

So overall this is probably my favorite game. Definitely give it a try, I know you won't be disappointed.
