4.0 out of 5 stars Well-made, a bit overpriced, and way too hard
There's no doubt that this puzzle is going to take a while, but that's the fun of it, right? It's big, taking up our entire dining room table before it's assembled, so you'll need to have a lot of room available. But it's probably the highest quality puzzle I've seen, with no bent pieces and no "puzzle dust" at the bottom of the box. My only complaint - I could have...

UPDATE: Okay, I should've waited to add my review. The other reviewer is right - all of the pieces look alike! It's not much fun if you can't make noticeable progress. This is a beautiful painting, but a terrible puzzle.

5.0 out of 5 stars Challanging but worth it, September 11, 2009

This is a challenging puzzle, but that's the fun in it. It certainly isn't one you would finish in a week, but I was looking for something that would challenge me for awhile but still be "do-able" and entertaining. This is exactly that. It's also a great way to study the painting and get a feel for how van Gogh created it. I liked the painting before I started the puzzle, but I appreciate it much more now.

4.0 out of 5 stars Challenging Puzzle, April 3, 2011

I just finished this puzzle with my girlfriend. It took us a few months to complete. We had the puzzle spread across the dining room table. We also brought another table over to the side, so that we could lay pieces out flat to determine where they go. The puzzle is well built and looks great when completed. The patterns on the puzzle are such that you really have to study the pieces when assembling them to determine if they go together. The puzzle came with a picture of the puzzle that we used to determine where the pieces went. If it weren't for that picture the puzzle would have taken longer to complete. If you are looking for a challenging puzzle I would definitely recommend this puzzle.

This puzzle is definitely not easy! But as a previous reviewer said, isn't that the point? As an adult it is difficult to find a puzzle that is truly challenging--but this one definitely is. And talk about a sense of accomplishment when you finally finish! This puzzle sat on my kitchen table for a good two months before we finally finished it-- so if you're looking for a quick and easy puzzle to do this probably isn't it.

5.0 out of 5 stars A difficult but beautiful puzzle, November 25, 2011

Starry night has always been a favorite painting. Some of the reviews complain about the pieces being very similar but if you have any familiarity with the painting it should be obvious there are going to be a lot of pieces that look similar. I thought this would be the problem with the sky but it wasn't really (but that was the last section of the puzzle so maybe I'd learned how to do this puzzle by then). The puzzle definitely got easier as I went along so there is a learning curve. I found the brown mountain on the left side to be the most difficult part of the puzzle. The puzzle took a couple of months but was definitely worth it. I would NOT recommend this for someone who is beginning or coming back to puzzle making. But I can't think of any 2000 piece puzzle I'd recommend for beginners! The puzzle is well constructed. I glued it when I was finished and it looks great!

5.0 out of 5 stars My favorite art in a puzzle format, July 29, 2011

I love Starry Night and when I saw it came as a puzzle, I just had to get it. This is a very difficult puzzle to finish. The pieces look very similar and some seem to fit together but really don't. It comes apparent that they don't fit when you try to add in additional pieces. When I started this puzzle, I looked for a puzzle mat but couldn't find one that fit this size puzzle so I ended up making my own with poster board and felt material from the craft store. I'm so glad I had the puzzle mat to work on because this would have occupied my dining table for way too long. Unfortunately I didn't have a place to work on this where I could just leave it until it was completed. So this ended up taking me much longer since each evening I worked on it, I had to roll it back up and put it away. This took me about 5 to 6 months to complete since many of the times I put it away, I didn't pull it back out for weeks or even months. This was fun to do but also frustrating since the lights in my dining room would shine on the puzzle and it made it difficult to see the exact colors of the pieces or areas I was working on. Many of the pieces look very similar since the colors are various shades of blue. I was so excited when I finally finished it that I had to take photos of the completed work just to have proof that I did finally finish it. I tore the puzzle apart after completion so now my mom can try it out. It should keep her busy for a while. All in all it was really fun but definitely plan to devote a lot of time to getting it completed.

5.0 out of 5 stars Not for the average puzzler, January 15, 2011

If you want a puzzle that will give you a challenge, instead of something you can put together in a few days, then this is the puzzle for you. Working on it by myself it took me over 4 months. Extremely frustrating at times but well worth the end result.

my wife and I bought this puzzle specifically so that when we finished we could frame it and hang it in our bathroom. A fun puzzle, and a piece of art.
