This CD is AMAZING,

This review is from: The Buffy EP (Audio CD)
I am continually impressed with Velvet Chain, and astounded that they're not uber-famous by now! This CD has such a great vibe to it - and the "Buffy" song is a scream! I think my favorite track on here is "Watching You," however. It's a really cool song with a bass line and a beat that totally get under your skin, and Erika Amato's vocals are just stellar. (As usual.) Buy this one - you'll love it.

The Buffy EP is terrific. If you've never heard, or even heard *of*, Velvet Chain before, you're in for a treat. Listening to Velvet Chain is an experience that's hard to describe -- the music is stylized and sexy. "Lush" is the only word I can use to describe it. You will get up and dance like nobody's business, even if only in your living room. Erika Amato's voice has gained polish since 1997's Warm (which is also a must-have) and Jeff Stacy continues to astound and amaze. Don't be scared off [sic] if you're not a Buffy fan, as only the first track is really specific to the show. There are no clunkers, although I'm more partial to the original version of "Frenchie." The fourth track, "Strong", is both alluring and addictive, and "Treason" enchants. This one will become a fast favorite.

Instant classic,

After falling in love with "Strong" on the recently released Buffy soundtrack, I bought this recording, then the earlier _Warm_ album. The Buffy EP is much more mature, polished, and just plain sexy--especially, of course, the original version of "Strong," which is one of the most lazily irresistible songs I can think of. (The alternate version, a hidden track on this EP, also featured on _Warm_, has a faster tempo, carelessly tossed-off vocals, and less interesting orchestration--it sounds as if it were recorded on the spur of the moment.) I think the real superiority of this EP--besides the deliciously dark "Buffy"--is the focus on more pensive, soulful songs like "Treason" and the haunting "Watching You." If you prefer faster, louder music for freeway driving, get _Warm_, but if you like sleek, haunting music that captures real emotion, "The Buffy EP" is far superior.

Of course, as a died-hard Buffy TVS fan, I had to buy this CD, and I just fell in love with track #1 - Buffy. Get this CD if you are like me. After one time, you cannot get this song out of your head

Two versions of this CD,
By Tigger64 (Syracuse, NY) - See all my reviews

There are two versions of this CD. One version has the seven tracks as listed above, the other has 6 tracks, lacking the song "Treason". The 7-song version has the diva icon superimposed over the same cover as the 6-song version.

a Lush and Sexy treat that you just can't get enough of,
This review is from: The Buffy EP (Audio CD)
I -as a lot of other VC lovers- discovered them through Buffy, I'm a huge fan of the show, and so I bought the soundtrack (there are a lot of great artists on here , and if you like Velvet Chain I think you also like Bif Naked - I bificus, K's choice and Rasputina - thanks for the ether.) But, about Velvet Chain, well.....they rule, I've only got the buffy E.P. (still looking for warm) but this cd is a Lush treat which you will just love! it starts off with the delightfully dark 'bufy' which -even if you don't like the show- is just a terrific song, and the rest..well, it doesn't get worse ;) the music isn't too complicated or anything but it's beautiful, the vocals are sharp and pure, the lyrics are fun and easy, and all together it's fantastic. if you like good music, buy this cd.

Orginal!,

Like many, I discovered the talented music of Velvet Chain on the buffy soundtrack and I absolustly loved it! It was smooth orginal and relazing. Erika's voice is amazing and Jeff Stacy's lyrics are inspiring. Though I was a little dissapointed that there wasn't that many songs on this disc I was really happy that I could get it. I can't choose a favroite song! I love Strong, Treason, I don't Care.... arg I can't choose. My next mission is to find there first disc, Warm. Anyone know a store that sells it? I found this on in Virgin Megastore.

A fabulous CD,

The Buffy EP is one of the most phenomenal CDs that I have ever heard. The music is lush, with an almost over-ripe quality that fills the room. The Velvet Chain are the sonic equivalent of a night blooming garden. The entire CD is magical, though the tracks Lovin' Ain't So Easy, Strong, and I Don't Care stand out as stellar examples of the Velvet Chain's sound.
