I've actually gotten several Ouija boards and books relating to it's use. Many who are serious about contacting the other side might not think that one based on a tv series (which also includes a comic book) would be an effective device. These boards are only a means to an end. In the same way a cell's phones design doesn't have to look all business like to actually make calls, in like manner, the board itself doesn't have to be one of traditional design. If someone plastered Mickey Mouse all over a board, that doesn't change the boards ability to make contact.

The board itself is beautifully designed but there is a problem with the package. A design flaw is with the planchette. With the feet being made of rubber, the planchette does not glide easily along the board. There are two quick fixes for the problem. If you don't mind spending extra, you can buy another board with a workable planchette and throw away the other board or get a shot glass with a clear bottom and use that as a planchette.

Those endeavoring to use it should be aware that operating this device is a hit and miss. To have activity, you have to connect with a spirit. Trying to do that isn't like making a phone call to a friend. It's more like trying to find an open gas station in the middle of the night. Those that are knowledgeable about the mystical realm and are already connected to spirits, know what to do. If you happen to have a spirit that is bound to an area (such as situations where a person lives in a haunted house), then you have a situation of being at the right place to get service.

If you're not fortunate enough to have occult knowledge or live in a haunted house, then you are going to have to be patient. Many times you will have to spend nights without a response. The lack of activity will often cause those that aren't disciplined, to quit before making a connection and write off the board as a hoax. If you're patient enough and make contact with a spirit, from that point on, you can have regular communications with the spirit world.

Having read various books on the subject and tried all the various means that authors have suggested; the best resource and also the fastest means to communicate with spirits is to follow the directions given by Aleister Crowley. J. Edward Cornelius pulls together all the teachings by Aleister Crowley in his book, Aleister Crowley and the Ouija Board. All the things that a person needs to know about a Ouija board, is put together in this book. It has enabled me to get quick results and also provide information that other books haven't.

One of the things that Aleister Crowley and the Ouija Board provide that many of the other books doesn't, is an understanding of the spirit world and the dangers. Anyone that seen the movie the The Exorcist (The Version You've Never Seen), knows that the little girl's possession started with playing with the Ouija board and the initial contact with a spirit eventually lead to her possession. This book gives you enough understanding and detailed instructions so that you don't end up having to share your body or deal with any of the negative aspects of the spiritual world.

Another key note, Aleister Crowley and the Ouija Board requires that three people participate when working the board. I've actually modified the instructions so I can work solo and even though I've modified it, it still works. Anyone with a serious interest, with making contact should educate themselves so that you can get results but also keep yourself from danger.

A resource that should also be considered is Dr. Shakuntala Modi's book Remarkable Healings: A Psychiatrist Discovers Unsuspected Roots of Mental and Physical Illness. This books provides understanding of possession and how to protect yourself from it. In addition, it also informs the individual as to how to go about exorcising a spirit if one is possessed.

Additional resources that would be of help concerning contacting spirits or possession are: White Noise 2 (Combo HD DVD and Standard DVD) [HD DVD]. The movie dramatically shows the dangers of the spiritual world. Though it's made for entertainment but if you study case files of possession and obsessions, something like that can occur in lesser degrees. Also when you go into the bonus features, you can actually view genuine contacts with spirits, which might be more effective then the Ouija board itself. In the bonus feature, they provide instructions and also contact information for those that want to take communicating with spirits to the 21st Century.

The product itself is not too bad, what do you expect from a ouiga board. When it arrived two of the three prongs on the thing that you put your hands on were broke so I had to super glue them. Other than that my purchase was O.K.
