This review is from: Buffy the Vampire Slayer HALLOWEEN PALZ Kubricks Exclusive 4-Pack by Palisade Toys (Toy)
There are dozens of 6" inch figures of characters from "Buffy the Vampire Slayer" and there are several 12" inch figures as well. But if you want the cutest "BtVS" figures then you are talking the tiny PALz figures put out by Palisades Toys. Just think of these as block figures, like the LEGO figures you played with, but re-vamped (so to speak). However, this set of four figures is different from the regular PALz figures because they are specific to the "Halloween episode from the second season of "Buffy the Vampire Slayer." That is only doubling up on the cuteness as far as I am concerned. .
That means you get Buffy dressed up as an 18th century lady to the manor born, Willow as a trampy looking ghost (pretend she is incorporeal) , Xander as a soldier in fatigues, and Cordelia wearing a cat costume (without a tail, which is somewhat surprising since the Oz PALz figure has a tail). "Halloween" was the episode, written by Carl Ellsworth, where Ethan Rayne first popped up in time. Giles's old friend opend up a costume shop where Buffy, Willow and Xander got their costumes for Halloween, the quietest night of the year for the undead. But Ethan worshipped the Roman god Janus, and everybody who purchased a costume at his store turned into the persona their costume represented. Since Cordy got her cat costume elsewhere she remains Cordelia in a cat costume. But Willow is a real ghost, Xander is a real soldier boy with a real gun, and Buffy keeps fainting because that is what 18th Century ladies do when they see demons and monsters running around. There are always options available with these figures. At the very least you can usually take offer their hair and turn their faces around for a different look. You will also get various character associated accessories and you can turn all four of these figures back into "School Day" versions of the characters. There is also an Inkworks Trading Card which shows Willow, which is a good move since the Willow trading card from Series I showed her, Xander and Giles (she was the only one not to get an exclusive card). Willow also gets special mention because her neck is a bit longer and I discovered that you can tilt her head to the side and make her look really cute, especially on the painted face side. But Buffy's curls are a nice touch as well, and with a dozen points of articulation you have some options for setting up scenes. The "Buffy the Vampire Slayer" Series I of PALz figures consisted of Buffy, Willow, Xander, Giles, the Master and Darla. There were also figures of Angel and Buffy AS a vampire out there as well. Series II offers up a Season 2 Buffy, Cordelia, Oz, Jenny Calendar, Spike, and Drusilla, and if you get all six you have the pieces to form the Judge (which is why Buffy is carting around the rocket launcher from "Innocence," although you also have the boxes the Judge came in from "Surprise")). Floating around this time is a figure of Kendra as a Palisades direct exclusive, so you can safely assume that Series III will offer up Faith, the Mayor, and other figures associated with Season 3 of "BtVS." That means the other question is whether there will be a special set for "The Wish"/"Dopplegangland" or for "Graduation Day Part I/Part II" (I would bet on the former). But next up is the first Monster Pack, which has Marcie Ross, the invisible girl from Season 1's "Out of Mind, Out of Sight," Der Kinderstod from Season 2's "Killed by Death," and the Anointed One, who leads the Order of Aurelius following the Master's death (until Spike finds him annoying).
