A little bit of each season...a lot, actually!,
By Pete (Sydney, Australia) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Buffy the Vampire Slayer: Radio Sunnydale (Audio CD)
I agree that out of the US version and the UK version of the new Buffy soundtrack "Radio Sunnydale", this is the one to buy if you're choosing between the two, but if you're a fan like me go for the two.I don't know what it is about Buffy music that just sounds so buffy. The indie dark rock thing, in songs like "Key" and "Ballad For Dead Friends", goes right through every season, while simple melodic lovetunes, like "I Can't Take My Eyes Off You" and "The Kind Of Love" cater the couple scenes. This cd has a lot to say about the entire soundtrack devoted to season 1-7 of Buffy. It has the ups, downs and in-bewteens. Fans will be stoked to see "Ballad For Dead Friends" and "Blue" on here, which are hard to find (even as an mp3). It's cool to see some score on here again (like the score "Close Your Eyes" featuring on the first soundtrack album). We get one track from Christophe Beck (because some of his score HAS to be included, since it's so brilliant), "Dead Guys With Bombs", which scores season 3's episode "The Zeppo", in which Xander accidently teams up with some zombies, only to learn they plan to blow up the school (all while buffy and the rest of the scooby gang are trying to avert an apocalypse). This score music plays notably through the whole episode and mocks Xander's situation really well. We also get a track from the "newer" score guy, Rob Duncan, who I think did a great job scoring season 7 of Buffy, giving it that mournful war-cry music that fitted rightly with the plot. This score comes from the last episode, "Chosen", and the last battle and is very emotional. When I got the first Buffy soundtrack I remember looking for "Sugar Water" (which plays in season 2's first episode,"When She Was Bad", as Buffy does the "sexy dance" with Xander), so it's great to see it make the cut this time round. All in all a strong representative of the kind of music played throughout the Buffy series. I was happier with this album that the first (especially since it doesn't appear to have songs that weren't even in the show on it) A great one for fans and all who like Buffy music in general.

More Complete Than the Domestic Version + Episode Guide,
This review is from: Buffy the Vampire Slayer: Radio Sunnydale (Audio CD)
I bought this CD in early 2006 and listened to it obsessively for the better part of a year. The collection is excellent, featuring some of the most memorable songs to play on Buffy, and it makes a great companion to the original Buffy Soundtrack.
Although some of the songs are easy to connect with certain episodes, several of them are harder to place, and thus I present this handy episode soundtrack guide, gathered from John King's note on the CD and various internet sources: (episode number, episode title) 1. Buffy Main Title Theme (new recording by The Breeders) 2. Bohemian Like You (5.11, "Triangle") 3. Everybody Got Their Something (6.6, "All the Way") 4. Dead Guys With Bombs (3.13, "The Zeppo") 5. Key (5.14, "Crush") 6. Sound Of The Revolution (6.15, "As You Were") 7. Ballad For Dead Friends (1.2, "The Harvest") 8. Blue (7.7, "Conversations With Dead People") 9. Pavlov's Bell (7.8, "Sleeper") 10. That Kind Of Love (6.18, "Entropy") 11. Sink Or Float (7.13, "The Killer In Me") 12. Still Life (7.14, "First Date") 13. Black Cat Bone (6.10, "Wrecked") 14. Just As Nice (6.6, "All the Way") 15. I Can't Take My Eyes Off You (5.6, "Family") 16. The Sun Keeps Shining On Me (6.6, "All the Way") 17. Run Away (6.9, "Smashed") 18. Summerbreeze (5.10, "Into the Woods") 19. Sugar Water (2.1, "When She Was Bad") 20. The Final Fight (7.22, "Chosen") Hope this is helpful! I know I was going crazy trying to figure out where some of these songs were featured in the show. ;)

Much better than the US version,
By A Customer
This review is from: Buffy the Vampire Slayer: Radio Sunnydale (Audio CD)
There are a total of 21 tracks on this album--9 more than the US version, but there are more than 9 tracks that can be found on this version and not the US release. Some of the songs on the US version are not on this CD, but the songs that are included more than make up for it. There are some great songs that have been featured on the show that are included on the UK CD and were not featured on the US version. Compared to this version, the only thing that makes the US release worth owning is the hard to find "Prayer of St. Francis" by Sarah McLachlan. I'd actually recommend getting both CD's, but if you only want to get one, the UK version is the better choice, despite the fact that it's much more expensive.
