Book Description

December 30, 2003
Considering how Buffy Summers has burned down the school gym, run off to Vegas, and filled her diary with tales of vampires and demons, her parents see no other choice than to have her committed to a mental institution for a nice long rest. During her stay, Buffy finds that she rather likes not having to slay vampires and demons night after night. But there's something sinister going on here as some of the doctors may not be what they appear. Meanwhile, in England, Rupert Giles' use of black magic has stopped a corrupt Watcher from destroying the Council, but now, to prove himself worthy of the title Watcher, he must face the consequences of dabbling in the forbidden arts. Dark Horse recounts this turning point in Buffy's history before she got to Sunnydale, in a story we only saw a glimpse of in the television show.

5.0 out of 5 stars Viva Las Buffy Continues (and a Dawn Short), January 20, 2004

This review is from: Buffy the Vampire Slayer Vol. 16: Slayer, Interrupted (Paperback)
Two stories in this volume. The first is a fun little story about Buffy's sister Dawn. Buffy is the target of a magician but Dawn is accidentally given the "evil" device. A fun addition to the "evil Teddy bear" genre.

The main story picks up right after the events of Viva Las Buffy. Buffy has returned home to discover that her sister has read her diary. The results are that Buffy winds up in an institution for the disturbed. There she is treated until even she begins to doubt that she is the Slayer.

There are a couple of interesting tie-ins to the television series (obviously the one where it turns out she never left the institution) including the mythos portrayed in the Initiative episodes.

A must read for fans of the show and books. Well done and nicely fills a gap in the history.

4.0 out of 5 stars For Buffy Comic collectors..., May 27, 2006
This review is from: Buffy the Vampire Slayer Vol. 16: Slayer, Interrupted (Paperback)
This book includes comics 55 through 59 in the Dark Horse Comics series.
That means it has the one shot Dawn & Hoopy the Bear, and the 4 parts of Slayer, Interupted.
If you buy them in the leaf version, you'd be buying the 5 leafs at $2.99 per leaf....so about $15.00 without tax. Save $5 and buy the book.
