I really wanted to love this product. I hate spraying myself with insect repellent, so a simple bracelet was a great solution. I really wanted to love the Bug Off! Wrist Band, but I didn't. I wore it outside for several evening walks and bugs didn't bother me, so it may be quite effective. But the very strong citronella odor was very annoying. If you don't mind walking...

I wore the bug-off band for a few warm, muggy days in August where the mosquitoes are terrible. First, I went hiking with it on my wrist, and although I didn't get any bites, the scent was very strong. It was like wearing a citronella candle! The next time I went hiking, I put it on my ankle, and got only one bite on my arm. Usually when I go out, my legs are covered with bites. When it was on my ankle, the scent was not as overwhelming as it was on my wrist. In all, I wore it three times outside, and it seemed to work. It's supposed to have a life of 180 hours, so I continue to store it in the plastic container. I'd recommend this product to people who don't like using insect sprays or lotions, but who also don't mind the scent.

5.0 out of 5 stars GREAT ITEM, September 26, 2005
This review is from: Bug Off! Adult Biting Insect Repelling Wrist Band (Health and Beauty)
I was doubtful that this item would really work especially because it did not cost much, but decided to give it a try. It was fabulous. Simple to use. No need to reapply like a spray. I went to Kenya and Tanzania in Africa and glad to report this item was priceless. I got four bites when not having this wristband on and none with it on. Sometimes I put it over my sock at my ankle and sometimes on my wrist. I just love this item.

I wore it outside for several evening walks and bugs didn't bother me, so it may be quite effective. But the very strong citronella odor was very annoying. If you don't mind walking around smelling like a citronella candle, then this might be for you. I think I'll wait until they come out with the odorless version.

5.0 out of 5 stars The best bug repellant, September 20, 2009
This review is from: Bug Off! Adult Biting Insect Repelling Wrist Band (Health and Beauty)
My daughter and I both attract bugs like crazy and in trying to avoid using deet products or sticky sprays I bought these and they are absolutely amazing. They keep bugs at bay no matter where we are!

She spent a week in the woods at camp and wore these the whole time and came home clear as could be. Since she has a very bad reaction to mosquitos adn swells up big from them, this is a great thing.

3.0 out of 5 stars Better than some bug bands, September 13, 2009
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Bug Off! Adult Biting Insect Repelling Wrist Band (Health and Beauty)
These bands worked slightly better than the others I have tried, but they worked best by wearing one on every extremity and having a body temp high enough to warm the bands and release the scent. The bands did reduce the number of mosquitos buzzing about, but we still got a fair amount of bites.

I think this product actually worked! So many insect repellent products make claims that aren't true. This one lives up to its claims. The mosquitoes are terrible here and I had no problem with them as long as I was wearing this bracelet. The odor is a little strong at first, like a citronella candle, and the bracelet is a little chunky. But overall, considering it kept the bugs away, I'd say it's a great product and I'll buy others for my family.

This is a product I feel good about using. Instead of using a chemical like DEET (known to have side effects), this product uses essential oils. (It's always great when a company takes the initiative to make a product friendly to both humans and the environment!) Furthermore, as an avid gardener, I had numerous opportunities to experiment with this product,. It worked like a wonder. I strongly endorse this wristband for anyone who enjoys spending time outdoors. A truly fine product.

This product seemed to help me although I'm not usually a big target for bugs. My husband, whom bugs like, didn't see a lot of difference when he wore it. I like anything that doesn't involve spraying stuff on me -- so the concept is good.

1.0 out of 5 stars Worst product ever! (Still even a year later), September 3, 2007
This review is from: Bug Off! Adult Biting Insect Repelling Wrist Band (Health and Beauty)
I left a review September of 2007. I tried the new bands they came out with yesterday, June 2008.

I was still attacked by skeeters even though I put on on each wrist and one ankle. The one leg that didn't have one on was the only part of my body NOT attacked.

So a year later, they STILL don't work. (This is in Northern Michigan where, believe it or not, the skeeters aren't as bad as in other places closer to woodsy or swampy areas.)

This product was a lot easier to use than sprays or lotions. It was very convenient and very effective. I'll continue to use this product. I'd also like to try it on my children, since mosquitoes are terrible this year.
