It was obvious that quite a bit of thought went into this book. While the book is not extremely long, it is well laid out and all the important aspects are covered. The detailed, linked table of contents went on for more than seven pages on my Kindle reader. This makes for easy access to the information when you want to reference it later. Here are the main chapters.

Chapter 1: Meet BOB - the Bug-Out Bag
Chapter 2: Choosing an Emergency Gear Bag
Chapter 3: Water and Hydration
Chapter 4: Food and Food Preparation
Chapter 5: Clothing
Chapter 6: Shelter and Protection
Chapter 7: Making a Fire
Chapter 8: First Aid
Chapter 9: Hygiene and Sanitation
Chapter 10: Important BOB Tools
Chapter 11: A Light for the Road
Chapter 12: Communicating
Chapter 13: Money and Documents Important Documents
Chapter 14: Surviving with Pets
Chapter 15: Self-defense
Chapter 16: Extras for Your Optional Bag
Chapter 17: Organizing and Maintaining Your BOB
Chapter 18: Obtaining the Knowledge to Survive

The writing style was helpful and the author offered up lots of useful advice as well as options for those that might be in a different situation or might not want to follow his personal recommendation.

This book is absolutely recommended for anyone who wants to take a quick and concise look at the "Bug Out Bag" to create a new one or to see if they need to make any changes to their current bag.

If you want another book with some more specific advice on lightening up your BOB, I recommend Ultralight Survival: Make a Small and Light Bug Out Bag That Could Save Your Life

This short book has some excellent information in it. The basics of a survival kit are listed in great detail. There is in depth information from the selection of a bag to types of communication that may be used.

It also covers how to make a fire and the importance of having first aid knowledge.

Highly recommended.

It really gives the novice a great place to start. Covered a lot of things that may not be practical for some families.
The chapter on lethal weapons was a bit left-wing leaning for me but overall very good.

I don't think that it covers everything that it should but it is a good start for the beginner. People need to take their B.O.B. out for for 3 days an try living off it and think about how they would protect what they have and them selves out in the boonies.

Highly recommend for those looking at the being prepared for weather related events, earthquakes, or just to have something handy in the event you are called upon to help someone in an accident.

I have read several bug out bag books and this one is the best of them. It is a no nonsense guide to what a Bug out Bag is, what you need, why you need it and it offers more than just one option for needs, such as water purification and food. The book goes into detail of options, for example listing three options for purifying water, suggesting a best option, and detailing why, such as which option results in the best tasting water. It explains things like which backpack to choose for specific reasons, and details like the back pack needing to be light weight yet carry what you need.

The options for food start from basic MREs to other options and it even has a little detail on foraging for food with excellent advice on what NOT to eat.

It goes into details beyond the BOB, such as how to make fire, types of shelter to choose, first aid kit contents, personal hygiene options and so so much more. Because of the rich content of this book, and extra information, as well as logical explanations of options to choose from, I'd say this is the most detailed Bug out Bag book I have ever read. Definitely a superior choice for preppers and the average person in the street who is considering making their own Bug out Bag. I also like that it does not try to sell you a 'best' path, but rather suggests a number of options that might suit specific needs then lets you choose what you need.

This book is good. I very much enjoyed it from the very first page. It was a free download, but it is worth dollars. I was very impressed with it. It is by far the best Bug out Bag book I have read, and I've read plenty of them.
