Not what I expected, March 20, 2006
If you are as familiar with the songs from the Bugaloos TV series as I am, you may be somewhat disappointed with this CD. The versions of the songs are not the same as on the episodes. There is different production, instrumentation, and mixing, including on the vocal tracks. While the essence of the songs is the same (and I do enjoy them), I would have preferred to have a CD with the songs as they were heard on the show.

Great nostalgia... and superior sound!, April 26, 2003
This review is from: Bugaloos (Audio CD)
Okay, so the import fee is steep, but this "Bugaloos" album is REMASTERED (clearly from the original tapes), unlike the Sid & Marty Krofft compilation CD available here in the USA. If you're a fan of the Bugaloos TV show, and you're looking for superior sound quality, this import price is completely justified. I wish the Krofft compilation CD had taken the same amount of time and care in the handling of the material as this Japanese import did. Very well done! Compare the shared Bugaloos tracks side by side and there's no contest! Buy this Import CD. Oh... and I dig the songs too! It reminded me why I woke up so early on a Saturday morning and raced to the TV set for a 1/2-hour of groovy fun. Enjoy!

Exactly what you expect, April 20, 2008
'The Bugaloos' is exactly what you expect to get IF you've ever owned the original vinyl release. Yes, the songs are slightly different, but have you ever gone to a live show by any given band and heard them perform a song in the same exact way twice? For that matter, have you ever heard a studio cut that was rereleased on a new album that sounded exactly the same? Neither of those things ever happens. I think what happened here was that the tracks on this CD (and previously, the vinyl release) were recorded in a different session (and possibly a different studio) than the TV show tracks, so you get a bit more richness to the music, less tinniness. I don't know about you, but I think that's a good thing.
This is one of my favorite albums of all time (along with the likes of Boston, Led Zep, and Nine Inch Nails). I grew up with this music, so mayhap I am biased, but I think I know good music when I hear it. This is the epitome of teeny bop pop, circa 1970, and as such, I think it rocks! The one bad thing (mentioned in an earlier review) is that this CD is waaaay too short. But as with all great things, there's never enough.
Now, if you'll excuse me, I'm going to go listen to some Megadeth.
