Published in conjunction with the July 1999 exhibition at the Cleveland Museum of Art organized by Hawley, curator of Renaissance and later decorative arts and sculpture. The first American exhibition devoted to the three generations of the Bugatti family, the text and b&w and color photographs and reproductions reveal that the great car designs usually associated with Ettore Bugatti relate to a tradition of artistry and design including sculpture, drawing, furniture, and decorative objects that extend well back into the previous century.
