Book Description

May 26, 2000 1901295524 978-1901295528
The 4-cylinder Bugatti Type 40 was often rather unkindly referred to as "Ettore's Morris Cowley" because of its nature and relative popularity. It shared its engineering sophistication with all other Bugattis and was powered by what was, effectively, half of a Bugatti GP engine. This the fascinating history of the Bugatti T40 is accompanied by 150 period photographs and illustrations, contemporary sales material, and informative articles. Additionally, this monumental work features the Bugatti factory's individual chassis sales records.

3.0 out of 5 stars Useful scrapbook, February 28, 2009
This review is from: Bugatti Type 40 (Hardcover)
If you've got a Type 40, you'll want this book. It has lots of period photos, the factory build records showing who your car was originally sold to, and when, a few period articles--road tests, accounts of travel adventures in a Type 40. What it doesn't have, and what I really wanted, was detailed, pull-no-punches advice from a Bugatti Type 40 expert (and there are some out there who could do the job). He'd tell me the original wet-plate clutch was junk, the cooling system generally was OK, how to spot a replica body. As I say in my title, this is a scrapbook, a heap of materials with no attempt at insight or wisdom. That's OK, but not what I was looking for.
