The Bugdom was once a peaceful place ruled by the Rollie Pollies and the Lady Bugs, but not long ago the Bugdom was overthrown by the clan of the Fire Ants. After recruiting other bugs to help fight for them, they captured all of the Lady Bugs and are holding them prisoner. The leader of the Fire Ants, the new king of the Bugdom, is King Thorax. Once he is defeated, the Bugdom will return to the peaceful place it used to be.
You are Rollie McFly, the only remaining bug capable of saving the Lady Bugs and restoring peace to the Bugdom. Rollie has been hiding in the Lawn area of the Bugdom and will need to travel far to get to the Ant Hill where the battle with King Thorax must take place. There will be water to cross, bugs to ride, and plenty of enemy forces to defeat, but once the Fire Ants and King Thorax have been defeated, you will become the new ruler of the Bugdom and peace will be restored.

This was the first PC adventure game I ever played. It came free with my mac. I got totally addicted to it, and it became an atmospheric world I moved in to. It sounds like a kid's game -- there's no real gore in it. Now I am about 2/3s of the way through Alice, which is a great game, so I have a basis for comparison and I can say there are things in Bugdom that are very unique in comparison: mostly these really cool water taxis and dragonflies that you learn to fly. Bugdom has a spooky kind of weirdness to it. The mac version doesn't have a save feature like Alice, only allows saves at certain definite points with these water drops you jump into, so you have to play until you get most of a whole level right, which I found a bit frustrating. But I got pretty good at computer games because of that, and I really do think Bugdom is a great game. It's out for PCs now, and I am going to buy it.

Bugdom...the funnest game ever!,
A Kid's Review
This review is from: Bugdom (Jewel Case) (CD-ROM)
Bugdom is one of the rare PC/Mac games out there that provide quality fun, awesome graphics, and sweet game play! The levels get harder and harder as you progress through the game, but it's still cool. Rolling into fire ants, flying on dragon flies, shooting fireballs are some of the cool things in Bugdom. Uh, don't just sit there! Buy it!

If not for the motion sickness...,
By cbj_chick (Ohio United States) - See all my reviews

This game has great graphics, and is not so challenging that it takes all the fun out of it. However, I cannot play it without getting nauseous. And I'm talking REALLY sick here! It does NOT do that to my kids, though, and since that is who the game was for, that's a good thing. There's nothing objectionable in the game, either, in my opinion. You do have to beat up bugs that try to attack you, but it's not bloody, which is a good thing for the younger kids who like the "action." If not for the motion sickness, I'd give it 5 stars.
