"prophetic" glimpse of cyber-terror before "cyber" was coined,
This is a very cool story! You might think it outlandish to imagine actual physical insects feeding on computer networking equipment, but consider that there are all kinds of microbes that feed on pretty much anything from oil, to iron, and, why the heck not computer cable!
Very cool to read this as it was written WAY before global networking was feasible - what with 300 baud modems!?!?! Well-written and enjoyable read. Fun - good sci-fi schtik.

Beats me why this hasn't become a movie,

The technology is dated, but the story is a terrific mix of science fiction, big government politics, religion and occult fantasy. Well worth reading.
