Do you want to accelerate your career? Grow your business? But hate the idea of "networking"?
I was in your shoes too. And I had no idea how to get started meeting new people and building relationships with the right people.
I began asking everyone I know who has had a successful career, built a successful business, or simply knows a lot of people for their advice on how to build a professional network. After compiling the best advice I received, studying every relevant book and resource I could find, experimenting, and practicing, I learned a lot about how to effectively make new contacts and build relationships.
I'm extremely excited to be sharing everything I've learned along the way in this book!
For better or for worse, what you know, what you can do, or even your credentials, are often not as important as who you know. Your relationships can often be even more important than your qualifications! People do business with people they like and trust.
Your relationships and professional network are extremely valuable in growing your business or developing your career. Whether it's forming partnerships for your company, finding a new job, acquiring clients, fundraising, seeking mentors, or climbing the corporate ladder, your relationships can have an extreme positive or negative impact on your success. Your professional network can also be an amazing source for knowledge, information, expertise, and advice.
For people who hate networking, it can seem like a chore. I hated networking too when I first started. After realizing how important it was, meeting some amazing people, and benefiting tremendously from it, I began to truly enjoy it. Networking doesn't have to be a dry exercise the way you may picture it if you don't make it so.
I've compiled all of my lessons learned over years of practice and study in to this book! I've written it to be completely thorough, yet to-the-point enough as to not waste your time. It's a combination of core philosophies as well as actionable tips and techniques. The philosophies and tactics I describe in this book have led me to forming relationships with success entrepreneurs, investors, and industry leaders.
Networking can be intimidating. This book is filled with easy, actionable suggestions on how to create and expand your professional network. One easy tip from the book: Say "YES" to invitations! The power of "YES" should not be undervalued.
Mike fabulously outlines a strategy for becoming a master networker. Whether you've been networking for years or have yet to start, this book will help you navigate the sometimes awkward waters of making worthwhile connections. As a somewhat experienced networker myself, I learned many new strategies and tips that I can't wait to start applying. Grab this book and get started!
really solid Kindle book on how to network properly. i dont know how many times people i know as well as myself made some of these networking mistakes. easy to correct... and watch your network grow. there IS a right way to network... and Mike lays out a gameplan on how to do it.
Mike put together a great manual here, and not only outlines the "how", but importantly touches on the need for "intentionality". Coming up with the endgame of your networking efforts is up to you, but understanding the "why" of the mechanics of getting there is covered well.
A very thin book, took me about an hour to read. Some good ideas and perspective for someone who does not have a clue about networking. Quite repetitive and redundant. Hindsight: I should have spent my money elsewhere.
Easily one of the best books on how to build a network and maintain that network. There's a lot of advice out there on the subject--this book distills it for you in a practical and enjoyable manner. Definite thumbs up!
As I flipped the pages, I found a lot of useful and wonderful information and reminders, even as a long time connector/ networker myself. The only reasons I put four stars instead of five is because I shot just information but entire paragraphs repeated occasionally and a tiny about of bad grammar (repeating words) However, I would recommend this book both to those who don't have a lot of experience with networking and for those who do.
