Book Description

May 1, 1999
Build Bone Health: Learn how to prevent and treat osteoporosis.

"Osteoporosis is often called the 'silent disease' because even though you don't realize it, it's developing long before you actually show any signs." (Linda Evans, actress and women's health advocate)

In this easy-to-read, informative book, Dr. Freedolph Anderson explains how osteoporosis occurs, the importance of dietary and lifestyle changes, and how a natural compound called ipriflavone can rebuild bone density and protect against this crippling condition. Build Bone Health also features a foreword by popular actress Linda Evans.

Here are the facts:

(1) Over age 50, one in two women and one in eight men in the United States will experience an osteoporosis-related fracture in their lifetimes.

(2) A woman's risk of developing a hip fracture is equal to the risk of developing breast, ovarian and uterine cancer combined.

(3) Direct expenditures due to osteoporosis and related fractures cost the United States nearly $38 million per day.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great entry into bone health and prevention of Osteoporosis, May 19, 1999
By A Customer
This review is from: Build Bone Health: Prevent and Treat Osteoporosis (Paperback)
Dr. Anderson's concise, clear explanation of bone health and the key factors in preventing and treating osteoporosis is a "must read" for all women. 50% of all women will suffer an osteoporosis related fracture in their lifetimes! I am passing this book on to my mother, sister and grandmother.

According to Dr. Anderson, we reach our key bone mass in our late 20's and early 30's, after which time we lose .5 - 1% of bone mass annually. And women can lose up to 3% when breast feeding, and also the 5-8 year period during and following menopause. The key is the need to "peak high" via good nutrition.

Osteoporosis is largely preventable - through diet, exercise and behaviour management. It is also possible to treat with prescription drugs, and now dietary supplements such as ipriflavone, marketed under the brand name Ostivone. Ipriflavone is clinically proven to inhibit bone loss and even promote an increase in bone mass, without the side effects associated with many pharmaceuticals - as a believer in the natural products industry this finding is incredibly exciting.

This book is not a medical primer, and does not go into incredible depth, but it does provide a broad basis of information and is easy to understand.

Read this book, and pass it on!
