Ok, tightwad. You say you can't have a cool car unless you have boatloads of cash?

Think again. Sunny Walicki of sunny auto-motion "show cars" has pieced together this for less than five grand from swap-meet parts, parts cars, and a homemade fiberglass body and chassis.

Why, sunny has even written 2 manuals called "How to build a custom fiberglass body for under $1,500 dollars" and "How to build a custom hot rod chassis for under $1,000 dollars" to help rodders who want to build "the wildest, bitchin', head-jerkin', knee-knocking, butt-thumping, boogie-wooginist hot rod in the neighborhood." Sounds a little violent to us but send for the books if you're up for it.

I have to echo the other reviewers statements about the quality of this "book". This is easily the most poorly constructed manual that I have ever read. I'm surprised that it is sold on a premiere site like Amazon. I received a photocopied set of pages in a crumpled binder -- so don't expect a classy paperback format. The most glaring problem with this manual is the apparent lack of the use of a spelling checker! The text is in a large, legible format but you do have to jump around and connect the information.
The lack of organization really shows when you try to follow the steps in the process and they are interrupted with "hints" from the author. Even the "Complete Idiot's Guide..." series has a better format. Unfortunately, there are not many other books that cover building this type of car body.
I will probably keep this manual as a reference, but I have found other custom car websites that are more helpful. Finally, if you want to build a chassis, get the Ron Champion book.

I found the book difficult to read. I had to flip back and forth between the front of the book, where the text was, and the back of the book, where the figures were. Written for the amateur by an amateur. There was good information contained within the book, but it took a lot of effort to extract it.

I found the text to be bigger than average and very easy to read. I have never worked with Fiberglass before but this book is written for me in terms the layperson can understand. There are illesterations thru out (this really helped me to be able to picture with detail.) I think this book is geared to the common man as well as someone that may know something about building a car from scratch. To make a long story short I think it is a great book and I have the confidence you will too.

Very confusing, plus $25.00 for photocopies in a binder I think it is a bit much.

I was under the impression the book would show me how to build car of my
choosing, instead the only car you can build is the one shown on the cover.
