I was very disappointed with this book. I am looking to build a street 455 Buick, but unforunately this book is of no help!

The book arrived very quickly and has a lot of great information. Thank you.

Very good book covering forgotten engines. Wish it had more on the mods to improve the engines shortcomings that have been discovered over the years.

PU because it stinks, a complete waste of money for all but the most inexperienced beginner. it is just a very superficial attempt to list alot of jubject matter in hopes of lureing in as many cash in hand victims as possible. Don't think you can read this book and then go build a performance Buick without alot more research.

Very good manual with a great deal of info for turbo charged V6 engines.
Was looking for nailhead info. Real weak in that area and some of it turned out to be wrong.
Still a good book for the other applications covered.

I was excited to find a book finally dedicated to the Buick performance engines, but after read it cover to cover, I was highly disappointed. Many of the topics seem to barely get 2 pages worth of discussion and only at the most basic level. For instance there is no inforamtion on how to set your engine timing to get the most performance out of it. The only thing I got out of the section on ignition was that HEI is better than points and Spark Boxes are better than HEI, which I think almost everyone working on an engine already knows. Also many references to Jim Burek of PAE, a Buick engine builder who scammed a lot of folks out of their hard earned money. I've enjoyed Jefferson's tech articles in various auto magazines, which left me even more perplexed as to how poor the information in this book turned out to be.
As for the book itself, aside from the cover, it contains only black and white photos, and the print quality seemed very poor compared to other books in this series. It looks like it was printed using a dot matrix printer.

The book is excellent as far as describing and showing one the strengths and weaknesses of the engines and how to improve performance and durability for racing engines. The only thing it lacks is showing what parts to use for someome wanting a mild streetable engine with a little more get-up than a stock engine. It would be perfect if it listed horsepower and torque improvements with various parts combinations.

I got this for my husband when I ran across it looking for anything related to buicks to help him with his project. He's poured over it and has commented to me that its been extremely helpful and that he's glad I picked it up for him.

This is absolutely a must for any Buick Muscle Car owner. If you've have or are planning on tweaking your Buick for more power, this is the Buick bible in my opinion. From working the oiling system to porting the heads, this is valuable information to have. If you've held a wrench in your hand, you'll be able to understand and apply most of the methods described in this book.

Run, don't walk to get this book now!

Excellent book on Buick engines...

Needs more on the LC2, but other than that.. pretty good.
