Back in the early 1980's the author noticed a ship in a bottle on the shelf of one of his friends. When he inquired as to how it was made all he was told was that "it was not easy". The author went to the library read a couple model building books then sat down and built his first ship in a bottle. He makes no claims at being a master model maker. He is only someone that loves the ocean, maritime history and the art of crafting these miniature tall ships.
