If you are looking to build an AR-15, I'd recommend this book as a great guide to do so.

Although this book is geared toward building a 16 inch carbine, one can easily fuigure out how to build a 20 inch rifle.

I found the pictures to be fuzzy and did not clearly denote which part he is referring to in the text.

I bought several books on building an AR and this one was without a doubt the best of the bunch. The author provides simple step by step instructions and TONS of pictures that document each part of the build. The pictures are Black and White, but they are plenty clear enough to see exactly what you need to do.

I also appreciated the authors inclusion of how to properly sight in your rifle at different distances as well as the detailed parts diagrams for each part of the rifle.

If this book was in color, I'd give it 5 stars. I've used this book to build two AR's for myself and one for a buddy, so It's definitely been worth it for me.

The idiots guide for the idiot. I read this book in 20 minutes. Kind of the sledge hammer and bailing wire assembly method. Very little talk on using tools that are designed for the job. When I spend $200 to $400 on building an lower. I prefer the do it with out damage. Yes, I have done it the way he teaches. And it does work. But if you do it more than 1 time. Do it right. Instead of this book. Buy "Building Your AR15 from Scratch" , Less $ and goes over several different ways of doing each item.

I found this book to be of little or no value. This book has been put together with poor quality photographs of an unknown source and drawings obviously taken from the internet and then blown up to the point of being blurry (page 68,69,70,71,75 and 77). The author was obviously not concerned by accurate detail based on his question and answer information on page 53. It lacks detail and explanation that any armorer or gunsmith would consider important. My take on this book is that the author is into short cuts and a quick fix without regard for safety. Additionally,I found words missing and misspelled. Even the copyright/disclaimer page is missing a word or two. Look at the "Introduction" on page 5, paragraph 6. It would appear that little of the information is original or based on experience. I would not recommend this book to anyone.

I bought this book to guide me through building my first AR-15. Within 3 hours I had a fully operational Ar-15. Although this book is geared toward building a 16 inch carbine, one can easily fuigure out how to build a 20 inch rifle. Overall, I am very impressed.

Being new to the AR, but not to rifles, I was looking for some good basic hands on information to help me assemble my lower. It seems the author assumes a knowledgeable level more associated with some one familiar with this platform. I found the pictures to be fuzzy and did not clearly denote which part he is referring to in the text. I found some excellent videos on You Tube but wanted a hands on guide. This is NOT it. I do not recommend this book for anyone new to the AR. There is better material out there than this book.

Looks like a reprint of previous diagrams etc. Many are not clear enough to see and figure out. Very poor explanations and I still had to go to you tube for clarification on the fire control group spring placement among other things. You can get better info online and stil will have to go there for your first couple of builds.

This was a great and easy to follow book on how to build an AR-15. It contained a full, step-by-step process of what to do, how to build it, and what to do with it. It contained a lot of pictures (and I agree, would have been a little better if it was in color) that showed you exactly what you should be doing, and how to do it.

If you are looking to build an AR-15, I'd recommend this book as a great guide to do so.
