1.0 out of 5 stars Filled with obvious and irrelevant technical details, June 22, 1998

This review is from: Build Your Own Pentium Processor PC and Save a Bundle (Paperback)
How many times do you need to remind us that a Pentium has 5.1 million transistors, and what does this have to do with building a Pentium PC ?!?! Photos of boards were in black and white, and always had a thumb in them! Only one chapter out of seventeen having to do with actual assembly. Other chapters could be gotten from any novice PC magazine. Waste-o-time.

2.0 out of 5 stars Poorly written and outdated., May 21, 1998
This review is from: Build Your Own Pentium Processor PC and Save a Bundle (Paperback)
While this book contains some useful information, it is not specific enough to be of much value in most areas. Some of the author's comments made me wonder if this book wasn't really written in the 1980's. For example, when discussing floppy drives he recommends installing both a 3 1/2" and a 5 1/4" drive! My guess is that this book is based on "Build Your Own 286 PC and Save a Bundle" and the word "Pentium" was simply substituted everywhere that "286" had appeared! Also, the author's writing style is very poor which makes this book very tedious to read.
