5.0 out of 5 stars Same fun with a few new twists
If you liked the earlier Build-A-Lot games, you'll love this one. Now, you have to practice energy conservation or risk blackouts during which rents are not collected. It makes the game a bit tougher, but much more realistic. In earlier version it was always ok to build the biggest house you could afford; now, you are limited by your power source: wind, solar,...

3.0 out of 5 stars the games are soooo much fun.
I have to say that Build a lot is a fun game that i can play over and over again. I was really excited to see this game and once i downloaded it, i had to play it. I will say that this Power Source game was very easy to pick up and thought it would be harder than the previous build a lot games. I have yet to complete build a lot 3, but this game was easy to beat and had...

If you liked the earlier Build-A-Lot games, you'll love this one. Now, you have to practice energy conservation or risk blackouts during which rents are not collected. It makes the game a bit tougher, but much more realistic. In earlier version it was always ok to build the biggest house you could afford; now, you are limited by your power source: wind, solar, hydroelectric or nuclear power. Everything uses power including your sawmill, workshop and so on. So you have to juggle power production with real estate development -- that's what happens in real life!

In addition, the game comes with 3 levels of campaign: the regular campaign (45 levels), a challenge campaign and an expert campaign. Whew! Some of the challenge games are, um, challenging. I haven't made it to the expert level campaign.

Highly recommended, especially considering the low price.

If you enjoyed Build-a-lot 2 & Build-a-lot 3, then you will enjoy Build-a-lot 4. It is the same concept with different tasks.

I have no idea what's Elizabeth's issue in saving the Challenge Campaign -- I haven't had any problems with it so far, and I'm doing those challenges right now. I must admit that at first, I found the whole power theme somewhat annoying, but now I just look at it as an extra angle of difficulty. More, please!

This game may not work on some Netbooks. After downloading and attempting to play, it does not recognize a touch pad mouse device. The game may be playable with an external mouse. I am using a Lenovo S10, with 10 monitor. If downloading games is your only option(no external CD Drive) be careful about ordering this one. It may work on your system, possibly if you have an external mouse to use. Hopefully Hipsoft can push out a quick hotfix for this issue.

I have to say that Build a lot is a fun game that i can play over and over again. I was really excited to see this game and once i downloaded it, i had to play it. I will say that this Power Source game was very easy to pick up and thought it would be harder than the previous build a lot games. I have yet to complete build a lot 3, but this game was easy to beat and had no issues with it. Only got stummped a few of the challanges, but once i tried again, i solved them. I hope build a lot continues to make these games and I love playing them. The adding of the recreation function was a nice add on.

This game is really great with the added challenge of keeping power supplied to the town. On a yucky day with nothing else to do, I can play for hours! I free trialed the Elizabethan Era, but absolutly DID NOT like it. Wish they would come out with another Build-a-lot with more of a variety of buildings to build. Maybe like a school, bus station, fair ground, etc. to add to the challenge of #4. I'm just hooked on this series of games!

The game is addictive and fun. I was able to beat it in a little under a week. After that, it was kind of boring. That's about as long as I play any game though, and I feel like I got my money's worth since the game is so inexpensive.

I was instantly pulled into this game based on how similar it looked to the original Sim City. It is not at all similar, though. While it is enjoyable in it's own right, there is very little room for you to explore anything outside of the game designers prescibed fun. Re-playability is almost non-existant.

1.0 out of 5 stars where are the People in this game?, January 16, 2011
This review is from: Build-a-lot 4: Power Source [Download] (Software Download)
This game is nothing like CittyVille. Some gameing Software Company out there needs to make a Game like CityVille but better, and release it to buy, but make the game so you can rotate the screen to view every side of your city, and in the game include energy every 30sec, and earn XP points to level up, and farm goods to sell to your stores to earn money, and include People and so on. Also make the graphics of the game look awesome in detail. If I could make an awesome City building type game and make it simple and fun to play I would.
