A Fantastic Look Back at New Hampshire CCC camps,
By
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Builder of Men: Life in C.C.C. Camps of New Hampshire (Paperback)
This book is a wonderful read and is told through many first hand accounts of men who actually served in the Civilian Conservation Corps camps of New Hampshire. It is amazing to learn of all of their work, their (mostly) young ages, how little they were paid, accidents encountered, and feats of work achieved.
I could not put this book down. So many of the CCC men took their para-military training and signed up for World War II, becoming leaders in that next segment of American History. This book is well worth having on your book shelf, that is, after you have read it! |
