Not quite what we expected, March 20, 2006
This review is from: Bob the Builder Wipe-Off Talking Activity Book (Spiral-bound)
My 2 year old loves Bob the Builder as well as scribbling with pens so looked like a great combination. Its a little advanced for him, although his 4 year old brother is having fun with it! It's a good point and explain book for the 2 year old. I had expected the "talking buttons" to be with Bob the Builder voices but they are not. The talking buttons relate to different activities and are instructions on what to do recorded with a male voice. The sound effects are cute but there are no actual Bob the Builder character sounds (except maybe Pilchard!) I may not have purchased the book if I had known the sounds were not going to be Bob the Builder ones.

You have been WARNED..., June 28, 2006
This review is from: Bob the Builder Wipe-Off Talking Activity Book (Spiral-bound)
A talking, reusable activity book initially seemed like a good idea...
Note that the book includes a dry erase type marker. While it wipes off the book nicely, the ink is likely to PERMANENTLY stain clothing, carpets, walls and furniture and other surfaces. Users would be well advised to not only protect the play area prior to use, but to make sure the kids are clothes are protected or are okay to stain. Adult supervision is probably a good idea.
Fortunately, the pen odor does not seem anywhere near as strong as those typical dry erase found in classrooms or meeting rooms. A note on the back of book states that it has been "safety tested for children 18 months+". It is unclear as to whether or not this includes the marking pen. The actual content of this book is probably suitable for children 3 years and older.
Attaching the pen to the book with a tether may limit potential damage and keep the marker from ending up in the wrong place, but it may also present a potential safety hazard. Use your own judgment...
