5.0 out of 5 stars Building 429: Excellent "Building Up" Album, November 21, 2008
This review is from: Building 429 (Audio CD)
Building 429 hit the scene big with their debut single Glory Defined and their solid debut album The Space In Between Us. Their style had a bit of grunge mixed with solid worship lyrics, fitting since the band name is based on Ephesians 4:29, which is a great life verse. After much acclaim and a Dove Award for Best New Artist 2005, Building 429 came back with a somewhat more rocking Rise, with the hit song Fearless. Iris To Iris was the third and final Building 429 album on Word Records and up until this album, was my favorite overall with stand-out song Singing Over Me, based on Zephaniah 3:17.

Building 429, the self-titled debut album on INO Records, is now my favorite overall album by this great band, who has really found their niche in my opinion. This is truly an album and band worthy of being named after Ephesians 4:29 as this excellent album is helpful for building others up according to their needs, that it may benefit those who listen. Sometimes a band has an uncanny ability to connect with a listener and I truly had that experience listening to this album. The opening track Not Gonna Let You Down brings back the rocking sound missing from Iris To Iris and then the hit lead single End Of Me just grabs you as a listener and for me is somewhat biographical as though this could be my life story as a Christian. I truly enjoy every song and have listened to this album non-stop for the last couple of weeks. The other highlights of the album for me come next with Overcome, based on John 4:4, which brings tremendous encouragement that Our Savior has overcome the world, and then my favorite overall song is the ballad story-song Always, a song based on a true story of tragedy similar to Praise You In This Storm by Casting Crowns. The orchestral arrangement and Jason Roy's sincere vocals cause me to break down and this song sweeps me up in worship and hope in God's promise that He will be with us Always!

5.0 out of 5 stars Will Not Let You Down, July 25, 2009

This review is from: Building 429 (Audio CD)
This CD is a testament to what Building 429 is and always has been: a 1st rate rock and roll worship band. Everything these guys put down; every track, lyric, harmony and note are infused with the band members message of love and faith in Christ. Each song's message is tied to the promise of hope that can only be found in Christ and each is delivered with a degree of honesty and commitment that is hard to miss.

Every track on this CD is a stand out and each one in its own way is uplifting and encouraging, leaving the listener wanting more. I've listened to this CD at least once a day, and sometimes multiple times, since it arrived from Amazon shortly after its release.

Given the positive and healing nature of the music and lyrics that Building 429 have crafted into this and every other release to date, I am integrating their music into my son's music library. My son, you see, is a beautiful, bright-eyed, intelligent and profoundly autistic child, but he has a love for music that is both deep and far reaching. For me, the song "Always" is an anthem that gives me hope for my son. While it brings me to tears every time I listen to it, its message is what gets me through each day. Like the song, "You Carried Me" - from Iris to Iris - it has become one of those songs that defines my life and the difficulties I find myself challenged by. "Always" leaves me feeling calm and reassured that Christ will be there for my son, now, tomorrow and forever. "Always" means always.

Give Building 429 the chance to change you outlook on life. You won't regret it.

5.0 out of 5 stars A Very Re-Freshing Album, June 11, 2009
This review is from: Building 429 (Audio CD)
Sometimes when I buy a CD, it takes a couple listens before I like what I'm hearing. In the case of this CD, it only took one listen. The first track "Not Gonna Let You Down" opens the album in style, with a U2-like guitar intro. The following track, "End of Me", is extremely catchy and definately my favorite song on the album. In the middle of the album is a powerful song called "Always," written from real life experiences about the many challenging things we face in our lives, but ultimately the faithfulness of God will always remain. I recommend this CD for everyone, because I believe these songs deal with lessons of the human condition, and will benefit anyone who gives this album a listen.

5.0 out of 5 stars This is a great album!, April 4, 2009

I got this CD about a week a go I think. It is great. Jason Roy really gets into experimentation with not only the melodic Christian Rock we love, but also puts a few tracks that resmeble pop and Third Day type sound. The messages in this album are by far the best I've heard yet. And it comes from this group living out their life verse Ephesians 4:29. Yes it is Christian Rock, but these guys really believe what they sing about. End of me is probably by far the best song, although after listening to it more I'll probably find more than one favorite on this album. Good buy for those who like contemporary christian music and love Jesus!

5.0 out of 5 stars Great Christian music, December 20, 2008

This is a great album. I found out about this band through a friend. She recommended them to me as she knew I was going through some sadness in my personal life. This album was really good. Hard to pick favorite songs though, they're alot of good ones. Similar to Reliant K in their style (at least the albums I've heard of Reliant K). This would be a good album to add to any christian music lover's collection.

If you're looking for a second opinion here it is - I agree with the first reviewer. This is absolutely the best Building 429 album to date. Brokenhearted? Crushed in spirit? Drop this in the CD player to soothe the soul. Every song a testimony to the love of God. A true reminder that we are never alone.
