Book Description

December 23, 1997
Building a Better Data Warehouse is simply the most practical guide to actually getting a data warehouse up and running. It begins by walking executives and managers through the hype surrounding data warehousing, briefing them on what to expect while building and deploying a data warehouse. It presents data warehousing terms, concepts, frameworks and components - helping all project participants speak the same language from the outset. Next, it shows project managers and initial data warehouse team members how to create a project scope document and plan deliverables. Walk through decisions about hardware platforms, operating systems, databases, tools and applications - identifying and comparing key vendors and products. Then, the book provides detailed help for data modelers and DBAs, showing how to complete the data model deliverables and actually construct the data warehouse. Learn about metadata, extraction programming, populating the data warehouse, end-user access tools, training, and more. For all IT project managers, staff and database administrators.

This review is from: Building a Better Data Warehouse (Hardcover)
Reasonable overview of the process required to build a data warehouse...however, most topics are given only light treatment. There are better books than this on data warehousing.
