5.0 out of 5 stars BEST CD, July 7, 2003

This review is from: Building a Better Me (Audio CD)
This CD amazed me from the first time I listened to it. I haven't ever heard anything quite like this CD ever before. I love the lyrics, the intstrumentals, the way the album fits together, and the length.

I swear, this CD never gets old. This is one of those CDs that once you listen to it once, you listen to it again, and before you know it you've lost track of how many times you've listened to it, and you're thinking, "Didn't I hear that song a few times already? Yeah I did, and it's great!" I've had this CD for 3 months and it is already my favorite CD and the only one that I never get sick of ever.

Why is this CD so addictive? It's not too hard to figure out once you listen to it once, but I'll tell you anyways just in case you've never heard of Dogwood before. If you've never heard of them before, this is the CD to buy, cuz most people agree that it is their best and a good introduction to Dogwood, a really great band.

If you pay attention to the lyrics in this album, and it's hard not to, you'll be thinking "WOW" by the end. At least i was. At it also made me think of a lot of different things, it's one of those CDs that makes you think. The songs ALL have great messages.

The instrumentals are great too.
Everything in this album is great. It all fits together perfectly.

The best part about this album as opposed to all of Dogwood's other albums is that it is the longest one. That's very good because you never want it to end.

If you like Dogwood already and for some reason you HAVEN'T heard this CD before, stop reading this review right now and buy it. I can't see how you could even like Dogwood without hearing this CD.

The best songs are...well that's a tough one to decide. I'd say SOME of the best ones are:
The Good Times, There's Room For Everyone, Building a Better Me, Comes Crashing, Autobiographies, Mycro...wait...I'm naming all the songs on the CD. That's how great this CD. There are no bad songs on this CD, no weak songs, no simply okay songs.
Actually, I take that back. Great Literature is the ONLY song on the CD that I didn't love, and that's just because it was too short...but actually it's not a bad song.

So just get this CD now...you will not regret it. It will soon become your favorite and stay in your CD player for a LONG time.

4.0 out of 5 stars Quality Punk Rawk, July 1, 2001
This review is from: Building a Better Me (Audio CD)
This is quality Punk Rawk from a good band. I base a lot of my reviews after I have listened for a while. I have had this c.d. for a while and it is still strongly a good c.d.

It has ver catchy hooks and a much better guitar sound than last time. Dogwood focused on making good music on this album, excaping their roots of punk rock. Great tracks from begining to end, with the ocasional break down.

An excelent album.

4.0 out of 5 stars huh?, June 28, 2001

that was my reaction when i read the words to the songs on this cd. a lot of the words and meanings are extremely obscure ("five little children defining the outcasts"? if someone can explain that, please do.) Although their love for the Lord does come out in a few songs such as mycro, they were better at expressing it on their earlier stuff. when you get past the lyrics, though, the music is the best ever. comes crashing is very good, as is mycro and the good times. i enjoy this cd a lot, even though i do wonder about some of the lyrics.

Dogwood is one of my favorite punk bands around and this album confirms it. I love "Myrco" and "Building a Better Me". The lyrics rock and so does the music. Great buy!

4.0 out of 5 stars A standout in the genre, September 15, 2001
This review is from: Building a Better Me (Audio CD)
Dogwood stands out among all of today's uninspired new school punk bands, especially those in the "christian market". These are hard hitting rock songs with bold, intelligent lyrics. Musically, the band isn't doing anything new, but these songs are all very strong, and the vocals add a realness missing from most of the punk out there. This album puts Dogwood on the same level as other quality bands like Lagwagon and Millencolin.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great Punk Rawk, September 5, 2001

This is the awesomest punk band ever. Josh's lyrics are gravelly and awesome, the guitars are fast and loud, and everything is the best. The drums are obviously played by a very experianced person, and while they don't steal the show, they certainly add extra sound where it's needed. Everything about the band shows good, high energy punk. The Battle of Them VS. Them is the best, although there is no bad song on the entire CD. The Christian spin they put on it is awesome too. Worth every penny you spend on it!

It's so awesome that a Christian band can be so punkerful and write this great music. I heard "The Good Times" and now I'm hooked. I like all 16 tracks, but some of them really stand out to me--"The Good Times", "The Bad Times", "Comes Crashing", "Building a better me", and "Come back down". I recommend this cd for any punk fan!

5.0 out of 5 stars this is an awsome album, they get better with every one, October 10, 2000
By
This review is from: Building a Better Me (Audio CD)
This album really shows how the band has grown over the years. Even if you dont like the band, they are growing and the music is getting better. they have not strayed from the beliefs that brought the band together and that is awsome.
