Accad provides much-needed insight and expertise in an area with which most Westerners are unfamiliar. (Alan Cochrum, Daily News-Record, November 22, 1997)

A "must read" for those who are concerned with Muslim evangelism. (Elizabeth A. Tebbe, Evangelical Missions, October 1997)

The information in Accad's book is enlightening to anyone who has wondered about Muslims' basic beliefs and indispensable to those reaching out to Muslims. -- Jo Upton, CBA Marketplace, April 1997

From the Back Cover

BUILDING BRIDGES BETWEEN CHRISTIANITY AND ISLAM. Muslims and Christians both worship one God. In fact, they have much in common. Although the history between Muslims and Christian has been strained at best, it doesn’t have to be that way. There are many areas of common ground between the two faiths, providing ample opportunity to build relationships. Fouad Accad grew up in Lebanon and spent most of his life there building bridges between individual followers of Christianity and followers of Islam. His passion was to bring two communities together-Muslim and Christian. What Accad built were bridges of understanding, communication, and love. Building Bridges provides personal experiences based on a lifetime of understanding the Arab world as well as research and analysis of the texts of the Qur’an and the Bible to show the similarities between the two. This book supplies readers with the information, concrete examples, and insights necessary when dialoguing with Muslims. If you want to reach out to Muslims around you, Building Bridges will equip you to build relationships of mutual respect and trust.

5.0 out of 5 stars A must for Christian reading., May 26, 2000
By A Customer
This review is from: Building Bridges: Christianity and Islam (Paperback)
From the beginning of this book you know the author has a true love for Islamic people. Once you have read it, I hope you will feel closer to them yourselves.

I would warrant that a great majority of the Christian community has no idea what Muslim's really believe. Because they do not believe in Christ as God, most simply write them off as unbelivers and give them and their religion no further thought. This book will open your eyes to the fact that Christians and Muslims have a basis for religious dialog.

The author states that this book is not for Muslims but for Christians who desire to share Christ with Muslim friends. The key word here is "friends". This book shows that by building friendship through a true caring of his/her Muslim friend a Christian can lay a foundation that allows the sharing of ones beliefs. This book isn't written to confront the disblieving Muslim with his unbelief but to build a trusting relationship with him/her that allows you to, lovingly, share Christ.

Accad's book really opened my eyes to the fact that Christians and Muslims are not a million miles apart from one another, but that there are "bridges" that can be crossed in a caring manner.

A Muslim acquaitance of mine once said that there are 3 holy peoples: Christians, Jews, and Muslims. This book shows this isn't the random thought of one Muslim but that there can be a connection between Muslims and Christians that allows for the Muslim to share his deep trust in God and the Christian to share the gift of Christ's love and plan for all mankind.

A very helpful practical easy read and not too long book.It points out the many verses in the Quran that agree with the Bible and which act as bridges to invite Muslims to consider the Bible's message..a very sensitive book that avoids saying anything negative about Islam..every Christian should get a copy.

Very interesting and controversial. This is whole new approach that I've heard of that seems like it could be a very effective way to reach out. Still for some other approaches may be better.
