Also covered are handling 404's, implementing the EE search engine, optimizing the site for performance, and configuring it for client access. Now updated for ExpressionEngine 2.4! EE 2.1 was released out of beta in July of 2010. Between then and now there have been significant changes to the ExpressionEngine Control Panel and feature set. Michael Boyink (usually just "Boyink") is an author, teacher, strategist, and web developer hailing from West Michigan. Michael has over 17 years experience building "stuff on screens" -- starting in TV news production, moving to software and finally the web. He has worked for small consultancy firms and Fortune 500 companies.
In 2002 he founded Boyink Interactive which provides internet consulting, strategy development, information architecture and complete website development for clients around the globe. 2002 was also the year he discovered EllisLab. He is one of the original members of the EE Professionals Network and has worked on dozens of ExpressionEngine based websites.
In 2008 he started Train-ee.com - the first dedicated ExpressionEngine training site. He then published the first ExpressionEngine book, which was quickly followed up by the first EE screencasts and first classroom training for ExpressionEngine. He was named the 2008 MVP for ExpressionEngine by Packt Publishing.
Through Train-ee he has delivered ExpressionEngine training in locations across the United States and taught it to everyone from self-employed freelancers to large companies like Garmin. He is also a speaker - talking about EE in places like BarCamp, and the 2009 and 2010 ExpressionEngine & CodeIgniter Conferences.
He is the married to MsBoyink and the proud father of both two kids. In September of 2010 the Boyink family left their home in Holland, MI on a proposed 1-year family RV road trip. Over the next year they drove 22,000 miles and visited 34 states. Somewhere in the middle of that adventure they decided one year was not enough so returned back to West Michigan, sold their house, gave away most of their stuff, and are now living on the road full-time.
