In this book, Dorie Krusz takes the reader through the steps of making dollhouses and everything in them. The information is wonderfully in-depth, and quite comprehensive. The color photos in here are wonderful to behold, and speak volumes about Ms. Krusz's ability. This is a great book.

I somehow lost my copy of Building Miniature Houses and Furniture, so replaced it with one from Amazon. Dorie Krusz thought up quite different methods to make tiny accessories, furniture, and even brickwork. Instead of using a lathe to cut down wood for candlesticks, she uses small brass ship parts to build up shapes. Ditto with the furniture. She does not use power tools, but uses materials to add shape and design on furniture legs. I used her method to make a fireplace, with which I was very pleased. I could not do without this book, so I had to buy another to replace the one I must have loaned to a friend. Never again will I load my book!

I am the photographer who took the pictures in this book. I have posted them on my web site. The craftsmanship of Dorie Krusz is first rate and deserves to be seen. Don't be intimidated by the quality of her work. The book describes how everything was made without the use of complex tools. Dori developed amazingly innovative, but simple, techniques for crafting things with basic hand tools. Links to other sites are not allowed in reviews. " Building Miniature Houses" is a wonderful book with clear illustrations and directions. We are on our second copy, having worn out the first one. As far as simpicity of directions, the book says everyone from beginners to master craftsmen should be able to follow the directions and most of the time the directions really are clear and concise. However,saying that beginners should be able to follow the plans in the book is a bit of a stretch. As an example, the wiring directions leave much to be desired. The " master craftsman" building my house, has had to go to other sources, such as the internet, to get the help he needs. Full blown photos of the rooms would also be a nice touch.

I would recommend this book to anyone with some experience in miniature building, but be prepared to do a little head scratching and have other sources for areas outside your expertise.
