5.0 out of 5 stars Inspiration for warship modelers., October 30, 1998
By
This review is from: Building warship models: A comprehensive guide to building fine models of modern warships (Hardcover)
It is said that the best type of entertainment is that which leaves you wanting more. Building Warship Models, by P.C. Coker, makes you wish the author has written a sequel.

For the person interested in building or collecting detailed models of warships, this is a very useful book. Covering all aspects of naval modeling, from research to final painting, the construction tips alone would be worth the price of admission. Illustrations from a rare Japanese book by Kozo Izumi help the reader to understand the step by step process of creating a model from scratch. But there is more to this book than just instruction.

Inserted at the end of each chapter is a photo section with dozens of crisp, useful pictures of completed ship models. From collections in museums to models built by private individual, they provide a collective inspiration for the aspiring ship modeler.

When I have my fellow modelers over to visit, this is one book that invariably gets pulled from the bookshelf and passed around. Whether you are a beginner or longtime modeler, Building Model Warships will provide a wealth of useful, and indeed, inspirational material.

4.0 out of 5 stars Great Photos So So Info, October 29, 2004
By
This review is from: Building warship models: A comprehensive guide to building fine models of modern warships (Hardcover)
The photos in this book are awsome , just wish they were in color. Nothing covering electronics, some good info on how too's just not enough. If you are looking for a book with lots of black & white photos of museum quality models this is it.
